Re: IMPORTANT THREADS TO READ (Added links to Playing Guides):
Understanding the AOR in Roma Surrectum II. First of all, you will find this map in the 'data\_important_stuff\AOR_maps' folder:
Note that the map is divided up into various colored sections or 'groups' of regions. Each color represents an 'area', and they are numbered 1-15.
This provides the first part of a conditional that restricts recruitment or economics or a building to a specific area, for example:
and hidden_resource area2
Will restrict whatever line it follows to Area2 in Spain. The AOR is further defined by having each region IN an Area having a number\letter designation that is used over and over again...these are r1, r2, r3, etc. I did this this way to limit the amount of hidden resources used, because the combination of an area designation WITH a region designation (r1, r2, etc.) will then identify every single region on the map with a unique identifier. For example, the region Rome is in (Latium), is defined like so:
and hidden_resource area6 and hidden_resource r2
With this condition, a unit can be recruited nowhere else on the map, because only Rome can be identified that way.
I hope this helps explain how the RS2 AOR was created and used. I would also warn players and would be modders that many factions in RS2 are VERY close to the limit of units that are allowed for recruitment in certain cities. The limit is 32 units (excluding agents). Making units available everywhere...especially AOR units or units that were not technically part of the faction's roster, WILL ultimately result in CTD's as the limits are exceeded.
Factions with this problem include Seleucid, the Ptolemies, Pontus, Pergamon, Macedon....well, all of the Greek factions.
