Default British Cavalry Mod (Update 9/20 Minor tweaks)

    Update: 9/20
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Update 9/20/10
Fixxed the issue with Trumpeter plumes.
All Dragoon Guards Officers now wearing Bicorn hat.

    Update 9/19/10
I have added the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons.
Reskinned the shoulder straps on some of the units.
Officers now have correct shoulder bars.
The Trumpeters/seargants now correctly have red plumes/combs/horse hair.
Officers are now all using the red waist sash of rank with no cross belt.
Reskinned the overalls on the Dragoon Guards to correct campaign versions.

Hello, here is a little mod I created for Britain. As a long time player of the Total War series from Shogun on
and a long time lurker on these boards I figured some of you might enjoy this.

I have reskinned the Life Guards and the Royal Horse Guards to give them a historically accurate look, or as accurate as I could get them without creating new models.

I have also added my own historicaly accurate Scot's Grey's (these are not the DLC Scot's Grey's as I do not have them).

I added 4 British Hussar regiments as well, why CA didn't include them in the game is beyond me.

    1st Kings German Legion Hussars
    7th Queens Own Hussars
    10th Prince of Wales Hussars
    18th Kings Irish Hussars

    Also 3 Dragoon Guard Regiments.

    1st Kings Dragoon Guards
2nd Queens Dragoon Guards "The Bays"
6th Inniskilling Dragoons "The Black Dragoons"

Each regiment has been skinned to be as close to historically accurate as possible, this includes the Scot's Grey's in white lace despite all the paintings showing them with gold lace. They didn't change to gold until 1811.

I have also included Swiss Halberdier's English UPC file since I use his amazing mod and this was the only way I could add names to my custom units.

    I hope you enjoy them.

    Installing this mod:

    1. After downloading you will need to right click the file to extract the mod and upc to your Napoleon Total War Data folder located here:
    Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\napoleon total war\data
    Windows 7/Vista: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\napoleon total war\data

    2. Create a new TEXT document on your desktop, rename it user.script.txt , add the line mod "British Cavalry Mod.pack"; , save it then copy it to:
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon\scripts
    Windows 7/Vista: C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon\scripts

    3. Alternatively to step number 2 above you can simplify the process by downloading and installing the Napoleon Total War Mod Manager found here:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=344757

This mod will not overwrite ANY vanilla units, or DLC units.

Someone brought up the valid point that the Scot's Grey's should probably be on "white" horses instead of the in games version of "grey" horses. If you would like to change this its very simple.
Below is a step by step guide to accomplishing this goal.

You will need Pack File Manager you can get it here:http://www.twcenter.net/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=2791

Very nice, especially now I can have Scots Grey.

You may want to reconsider 10th Hussars as they are now downloadable free when joining CA's new forum.

Life Guards and Royal Horse Guards look very nice, but of course it means having duplicates in the recruitment roster. Can't be helped I guess. Swiss had same problem with Polish and Dutch lancers.

Have you set a recruitment limit in Campaign for these units since they are unique ?

Thanks again for the new units.

This would be ok mod apart from the small detail that you are using french colpeck or bearskin.... british Hussars used taller bearskins.

Thanks Andy, yes you will still have the Life Guards and Horse Guards from vanilla available in the recruitment panel as well as the new 1st Guards and Royal Horse Guards.
Thier stats are a little better though so they could be considered "elite" units compared thier vanilla counterparts.

There is a 2 unit limit on each of the new units.

Gary, i'm using the British cavalry bearskin model and texture for the grey's, I found it in the British texture files. It is NOT the french bearskin

Admittedly it could be taller but this is how the CA 3d modelers envisioned it for their version of the Scot's Greys.

umm i can see that the 8th hussars are using the chassuer de la cheval colpek or hat. if you look closely where the cords and plume is attached you will see a little eagle?

OH, your talking about the Busby... my mistake thought you were talking about the Bearskin for the Scot's Grey's at first.

Actually there is no eagle on the Busby, there is however a small star which I saw no point in removing.

The Busby's for the Hussars of the period were all around the same size, though some paintings exaggerated their height, they tended to be rather "scrunchy" and didn't hold their form very well.

Thanks! and yes they turn up in the campaign game, all the new units show up at the Barracks, the 1st Life Guards and the Royal Horse Guards show up later but sooner than their vanilla counterparts.

Very good work sir, keep it up.
I wish very much that some measures could be adopted to get recruits for the 29th Regiment, it is the best Regiment in this Army, has an admirable internal system and excellent Non-Commissioned Officers. Duke of Wellington, 12 September 1809.
The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. At Rotterdam, London, Warsaw, and half a hundred other places, they put their rather naive theory into operation. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind.

Never in the field of modding was so much owed by so many to so few

Shouldn't the scotts grey be riding grey horses (AKA white in the horsing world) not dark grey (normal grey in the non horsing world).
