Can't play custom battle

I installed a clean RTW, patched to 1.5, installed RS2 to another folder, copied to RTW folder, changed the launcher target. Other campaign except "battles only" worked fine, both campaign map and battle map.

I launched the game with battles only. Then I selected custom battle, chose map, chose factions, customized armies, then click start battle, and it immediately back to the factions screen. I couldn't continue, could only back to previous screen (maps). Number of units was not over the recommended limit.

game engine: RTW 1.5
OS: laptop winXP 32bit

I want to view post-Marian Roman legionaries but I can't play custom battles now. Please help!

I got this problem too when I installed RTW then installed RS II immediately . Fixed it by reinstalling RTW, playing it once before continuing with RS II.

Sorry but I made this topic a long time ago and now I finally have a chance to do what Hektor suggest. I reinstalled RTW, played a custom battle, then installed RS. But the problem was still there. It seems can't be fixed by that method.

Please help.

Im not on a PC wit RS2 on it, but can you say whether or not an actual faction can have a custom battle - e.g select custom battle while loaded as Rome.

I've got the same problem. If I load Battles Only, and try to load the actual battle, I am brought back to the faction select screen. In addition, whenever I load the Rome script, I am no longer able to play the campaign - SP menu brings up historical battles and custom battles (neither of which I can play).

I tried uninstalling RTW and deleting the entire folder, reinstalling, played through the RTW prologue campaign, and a custom battle before reinstalling RSII. Still no luck. Any suggestions as to what can be going on?

P.S. The cmd screen that loads before RTW does say that play_rome or play_battles is loading.

I can't play custom battles either. This is my launch command line: -show_err -nm -movie_cam, I use BI.exe.

The game crashes after the first loading screens.

I've just played a custom battle (battles only option on the launcher) with RTW BI and had no problems with selecting units, fighting the battle, saving the replay and finishing the game.

I have no mods installed and use the launcher to start the game. I don't have this game on Steam. I use WIndows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and play the game at 2560x1600 with the settings at the max.

If the game crashes after the loading screen then you need to reduce your graphic settings.
