    Default Chansons de Geste: CANCELLED

    <<<<CANCELLED for the foreseeable future>>>>

Announcing my big project: Chansons de Geste, a minimod for Deus Lo Vult 6.2.

The primary goal of this minimod is to institute changes to make the game more historical and interesting to play. There is no overall philosophy, only a series of changes that I feel are warranted. However, if as the previews and early releases appear, you feel that other changes could be included, feel free to post here. I will post most of the material in this first post.

    FOR:.......DLV 6.2 Main Campaign ONLY
    (Historical Campaign is not functional)

    DOWNLOAD

(BETA- some errors still occur, please post when/if they occur.)
(263 Mb, so will take some time to download)

    Megaupload

    Patch
(includes some fixes, and my Faction Selection CTD Fix)

    Megaupload - Patch 0.96

    Installation Instructions:
-Make sure to run Kingdoms, then install DLV 6.0, then the 6.2 patch, then run that as well.
    -
the DLV_ext folder is compressed in a .7z format.
-using Winzip or other porgram, extract the DLV_ext folder to your M2TW/mod folder.
-Click 'Yes' when it asks to overwrite all files.
-Finally, delete the map.rwm entry in the data/world/maps/base folder.

    Patch Install:
    -unzip the data.zip folder
-copy the files over your DLV data folder
-Click 'Yes' when it asks to overwrite files
**IMPORTANT**-Go to data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign and DELETE ALL of the 'map_(faction name).tga' image files. Do NOT delete the 'map_FE' image file.

**Post any and all bugs, errors, and CTDs in this thread. If possible, post your log files as well, preferably with trace activated

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
To activate trace, open your DLV_ext.cfg file in Notepad. This file is located in the DLV_ext in your mod folder. NOT the DLV_ext in your data folder! In this file, under [log], you will see an entry: level = * error Change this to: level = * trace It will slow down some processes, so only do this when you are getting an error that keeps repeating. Save that file, then post it in this thread along with a description of the problem. Hopefully, I can track the causes of any problems and correct them in patchs/later versions.

    Enjoy!

**Assorted changes to loading screens and portrait files; nothing new, just streamlining their use in-game. Also, campaign selection maps and special unit info screens will be corrected.

Omg very ambitious! Can't wait!!! Btw, maybe remove the American continent at all? And some additional provinces in France, Spain, Scandinavia and maybe HRE would be awesome!!! Also, are you going to add crusaders' units from BC?...Sweden?

It will be using the latest release of BB...whatever that is at the time. It might be up to update 55 or 60 by the time I have this all ready haha.

@overlord.ru, yes I will add a couple Crusader units, but a few were not done by Alpha Delta, so I can't use the Crusader Sergeants, Crusader Knights and 3-4 others, but I will use about 4-5 of their knights and infantry units for both KoJ and mercs.

@wader, Flanders is already in the game, but adding Bohemia is beyond my scope. I considered remaking Ireland into Bohemia, Burgundy, Serbia or whatever, but I figured it was best to leave them for now, since they are rather unique up in their corner of the world, with lots of different units.

Haha, I came up with a wishlist of about15 provinces I would love to add if I had the space. Among those were Pisa, Verona, Ancona, and Torino for Italy, and about 3 more for the Middle East....but there are only 5 provinces left in America, I don't want to mess with the New World invasions script, and I am leery to remove provinces from other parts. So, I'm afraid that map shows the extent of my provinces changes, unless someone wants to go through Taiji's latest campaign script and remove Americas Invasion...oh, and test it a couple times. I got my work cut out for me as it is haha.

Expect a list of units sometime this weekend.

    TQ

Now Kingdom of Jerusalem is really ed! Oh dear.

    ~Wille
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

Updated with a new pic or two, and added the lists of changed units. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Or, for that matter, if you notice anything I've done wrong or could improve upon, speak now before I actually start changing stuff!

I wonder if you're going to make this mod anyhow BB-update-friendly, I mean that when the new BB version is released, one can simply put it also over this mod. Or you'll be updating your mod manually?

Haha, when its done. I'm a PhD student in History, so I got a lot of reading and teaching duties to do when I'm not pursuing my amateur career as a DLV modder lol. Don't worry, it'll go faster than you think, but not as fast as you want it to go.

Love that you've included stuff from the Magyar Mod, while I've not played it, it looks very good. Hungary is my favorite faction to play and about time they got a makeover in DLV!

All the best and heres hoping for a release not too far away!

The Danes, I swear, with their half arsed attempts at a 'war'. You gotta give it to 'em, they just dont stop trying. Listen, I've fought the Timurids, ever heard of them? Elephants with cannons on their backs. Yea, Timurids. You guys are like kids on tricycles compared to them. -REZ

Very cool submod - you fit all in what“s need to make dlv how it should be (as i like it)
the aztecs and hedjaz tribes are always useless ore some kind of organized rebel states in my games and there regions could be used better.

can you please correct some borders in the holy roman empire and baltic regions too? i try to make a map and show you what i meen.

    best regards
