    Default RELEASED Historical and Modern Faction Name Mini-Mods

    Full Faction Names micro-mod

    and more.

    Made this for myself really, it's not a real "mod", just some text editing. Basically while I was working on the Lithuania sub-mod, we got into naming Poland and Lithuania "Kingdom of Poland" and "Grand Duchy of Lithuania". I kinda liked that and renamed every faction They're all historically correct, if you're wondering. At least for 1700. After that some things changed, but the game won't let names change in the middle of a campaign.

    Ended up with a couple "Kingdom of ..."s, "Duchy of..."s, "Electorate of..."s, one Tsardom, some Empires, a Dynasty, three republics, the United States of America, etc. If you like short names don't use this

    Just extract everything to the Empire data folder, overwrite if necessary. Disclaimer: I didn't make the original pack file, I just edited it because a stand-alone file wasn't overwriting the one DarthMod uses. Backup of the original included.

    List of faction names attached too. Before you use this, know that "Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth" and "Republic of the Seven United Provinces" don't fit on one line in the diplomacy screen, and the 7UP name is barely cut off on the between-turns screen. OCD peoples beware (I've uploaded a version where all names fit)

    IMPORTANT NOTE ON COMPATIBILITY: This doesn't work with any mods that have a localization/localisation/loc file, like unit packs. If you want to use one of those with this mod, PM me or post here what mod you use.

    Works with vanilla, DM, DMUC, and anything that is compatible with UPC (e.g. AUM, Ornamatum).

    Changelog Update - September 10, 2010:
    Added modern names* (separate pack) and correct demonyms for all factions (history and modern). Also realized I spelled OCD wrong.

    *Note on modern names: since a lot of the factions in ETW don't exist independently anymore (mainly the German and Italian states, Native American nations, and three of the four Indian factions) I did one of two things. 1. Leave the name the same as it is in the historic version (most of them are like this) 2. Found the most territorially similar modern state and used that name (worked quite well for the German states and Columbia).

    Update - September 28, 2010:
    DMUC 6.2 Compatible.

    Update - 10/10/10:
    New version with no cut-off issues for PL and UP names in early campaign version. Changed them to "Poland-Lithuania" and "Seven United Provinces". Other than that the names are the same as the original early mod. Late mod not changed at all.

    One week before Christmas, 2010:
    Updated to UPC 6.2 (DMUC 6.7)

    + rep mate, but the Knights of St. John were no longer "Knights Hospitallers" in the 1700's
    They became the Knights of Rhodes during their time there, and after 1565 they were officially known as the Knights of Malta.After their expel from Malta they were given the title of the "Sovereign Military Order of Malta"

    Yeah, I realized that while I was making it. But the AI almost never gets revolutions so...

    But the AI almost never gets revolutions so...
    not true in my experience, but it can vary between games a lot

    I meant like a few countries become republics in the late game, like near the end of the 18th century, but rarely are there many countries left by then, and most of the time people don't play entire campaigns.

    I am using DMUC 6.0 When i added the AUM 3.1 to the script it disabled the changed names is there anyway to get them back.

    Remove patch_aum_en_loc.pack from the data folder. The UPC file I used contains the same information, so it won't break anything.

    I removed that pack from the data folder and it still does not change the names help please
    should i remove the patch_aum_graphics.pack also

    You shouldn't have to, but if this doesn't work then remove that file too:
    Look for any files with aum and loc in them. Remove those. Then find any unit_pack_compatibility files and remove those. Reinstall the faction names mod.
    I'm downloading AUM 3.1 to look for any other problem files.

    Should I do another version for 1800? Then there would be one for the beginning and "end" of the campaign, plus modern. Or 1783 version for late campaign?
