I wasnt around when all this went down but I'll just like to say many forums on the net with a small, familiar tight knit community such as TWC's have these Crandar-like figures that inspire much hatred and myth around them. Back in my old home forum his name was Cletus, and he mimics Crandar in almost every way, except nobody was foolish enough to make Cletus a mod...anyway Cletus would also periodically pop in and hack something or cause some upheaval that resulted in huge controversy and debate every time. Its kinda like...Forum community myths and urban legends., and people like Simetrical are our community elders who remember the story so well and can retell it. He's probably part of the veteran few who actually founded this community or where present at its founding, and people like that can always be distingushed by their rank and popularity on the forums, as well as how far back they remember :/

Anyway, er...when was this site founded anyway?

Ask Siblesz or a senatorii. I think the first admin here was Knight2100 , then tBP I beleive..
This forum used to be a different one. It was transfered to a new software due to hackers destroying the old one in february or march, i beleive. I was a Praetor back then, with Spartan's dictatorship and marshall law was ruling on the forums to restore power and peace.

Shame Sibs won't be able to write about the second crandar problesm since he was in china. His Mi Lucha should still be around though, it was all about TWC history. Can we get that repinned. HOpefully he will finish it someday.

he is updating it, almost every day. He is here and does his posting and leaves. Sometimes he asks me to open his thread, then close it, so no spam gets in it.

If Sim is that old I'm a dinosaur, I joined before him. But suffice it to say, none of the current staff are "founding members". And I can recite the story, too, I was just too damn lazy too.

The site was founded by Paul in 2002. The only "surviving" members of that time who remain active are Siblesz and the Black Prince.

If you're referring to the hacker attacks, that was in May or April. TWC was transferred to vB somewhere around then, right after the attacks. I know it was before June because I was made a civitate (finally

) after the hacker attacks.

Ah I see...so is it safe to say we are now in the "pax romana" stage of TWC's life? That is, relatively peaceful and site is running stable and efficiently, no major strife or serious unrest in the curia it seems...

Nothing too major, though sulla being gone for awhile now, and the reforms pending, we could have some fun. But nothing like the hackers. :wink:

We're living a different "forum- time" now. the hacker attacks and the simultaneous outrage by the exiled ones (ask JacobusM) thought us that the system wasn't perfect. It was full of loopholes and people taking advantage of certain things on this forum. The senatorii, you should respect, they know why when and what even though some will disagree on many things, but they won't disagree on that, there were a few bad decisions made and it was part causing of the "meltdown".

I was here as a non-civ, and everytime I posted something about the issue I would get screamed at by civs and older members, it was fun. :wink:

I don't think that it would work to impersonate a person. I mean, it would take a whole lot of work.
