Long battles

It takes a long time to kill off the enemy, I don't remember it being like that is RS1. RS2 reminds me of Troy with how long it took to kill the enemy. If I have an entire army surrounding one unit it takes 10 minutes to eliminate it. Is there a way to change their hit points?
