Good playing practices guide
There is a guide of compiled suggestions on how to use your software and hardware to get the best out of them.
One thing that the RS team have suggested is to not use the AUTOSAVE feature as it can create bugged saves. Also the RS team suggest not doing Quicksaves for the same reason.
The suggested method is to do manual saves. As with all games it's probably best to save frequent and often.
Personally, I will do a save every turn or two and also save immediately prior to a large battle and after it.
While you can use the same file over and over again you could use a filenaming convention like faction_year_season. So, my save of a Carthage campaign in the summer of 558 looks like Cart_558S and winter of the same year Cart_558W.
With the faction specific campaigns the faction part is redundant as they will be all in their own saves folder. However, you could always copy them elsewhere as a backup and knowing which faction they relate to helps. USB keys are ideal for this.
By taking backup copies of your saves it means that if for some reason your hard drive fails you've not lost your precious campaigns.

As we don't really need people to post here I will close this.
