Re: Confounding Problems
All we can say is.
Have a clean copy of your RTW /BI/ Alex.
Then follow the instructions on the RS2 release thread.
If you are still having problems we need screen shots, or error reports or a good detailed idea on what you are doing.
I don't have steam but we have others here who do.
Check your work, and someone will be will you, if you still have problems.

Re: Confounding Problems
add this to your steam launch options
-mod:play_Rome -nm -show-err
and just launch through steam

Re: Confounding Problems
[ErrorReports]
Error1/3=You don't have Roma Surrectum II installed in the correct folder. (C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\rome total war gold)
Error2/3=Engine: RomeTW-ALX.exe, Faction campaign: -mod:play_belgae
Error3/3=In total: 'RomeTW-ALX.exe -mod:play_belgae -show_err -nm -movie_cam'
Captial: I done that but it brings up the same errors

Re: Confounding Problems
That first error is the problem.
Cap. i don't have stream, explain how you did?
Sharpe, It must be in the folder of the game. RTW.BI or Alex
Then the instructions of steam is clear.

Re: Confounding Problems
I also cant get it to launch with the launcher, I had a problem with a space in front of -mod:play_rome, which caused no campaign to appear in start game.
I set my preferences in the launcher, and then edit the launch options in steam and it works perfect, managed to lose the fight against hannibal and script definitely added a denari to my coffers.
Use the RTW engine, that one will work - A fix will need to be made to get Alexander to work, which will probably be duping the RTW Gold into Alexanders, and installing RS2 there... I will try it out to see if it can work

Re: Confounding Problems
Holy cow it worked. *Steam Alexander
Copied Rome Total War Gold to Alexander (Steam users will know \steam\steamapps\common\rome total gold to \steam\steamapps\common\rome total war alexander)
Copied Launch Options From Rome Total War Gold to Alexander in steam (Right click rome total war gold, launch options copy that string paste to alexanders launch options)
Ran launcher from Alexander/Launcher to confirm preferences
Ran in Steam
Alexander I presume
*The string needs to include the same faction as the one you selected in preferences (Ignore the string in the rs2 launcher its bogus for steam users)
