Altering desc_strat or export_desc_unit

Its not possible to alter these files isnt it?

I play as Carthage and wanted to change the Spartan Hoplite stats (giving them 2 hp and a bit more attack/defence). I love a good fight against these boys.

so I altered some stats in the export_desc_unit but it seems to jump back whenever i start up RS2.

Where did you install RSII to?

My guess is that you've runing Vista or 7 and have done it in the c:\program files (x86) folder. There are reasons why we suggested to not do this.

Look up 'virtual store' or 'appdata'.

If it's not that then you're probably not modding the files or don't have the permissions to change the files on your system.

You have to change the file in the Folder : "Play_X" where X is the faction you choose for the launcher. That's because the launcher copies files from these folders into your main directory overwriting what you have in the main. The folders should be found in the folder you installed RSII into, the one that also has the folders: data, miles, bi(if installed), and alexander(if installed).

Well, Ive installed it in my D:\Total War\Rome Total War folder
And I run on Windows XP

You can alter the desc_strat....I have found it according to what you said, Lastexile! So thanks!
But the unit roster cannot be changed...not in the same way you said because simply there is no export_desc_unit file in the folder of a faction. So that still stands.....I still want to power up those spartans a bit.
