Thread: How to make vanilla hotseat

    Icon7 How to make vanilla hotseat

    I post here how to play vanilla hotseat with modding a file

    Go to medieval folder, open medieval2.preference.cfg and add this:

    [multiplayer]
    playable = true

    also there are options (only if you want you have to edit it)

    Code:
    [hotseat]
    scroll = false ## disable start turn scroll in hotseat campaign
    turns = false ## disable forced separate human faction turns (including diplomacy) in hotseat campaign
    disable_console = false ## enable cheat console in hotseat campaign.
    admin_password = password ## specify password for administrator access to the dev console when console disabled. Change 'password' to a suitable password
    update_ai_camera = true ## enable camera updates during ai turn in hotseat campaign
    disable_papal_elections = false ## enable voting in papal elections in hotseat campaign (only first valid human faction votes)
    autoresolve_battles = false ## disable forced autoresolve all battles in hotseat campaign
    validate_diplomacy = false ## disable diplomacy validation for incoming propositions
    save_prefs = true ## disable forced relevant hotseat options to be saved with game.
    autosave = true ## autosave hotseat game at start of players turn
    save_config = true ## save config file in save dir containing information about next players turn
    close_after_save = false ## close medieval II directly after a hotseat autosave
    gamename = hotseat_gamename ## sub directory name for hotseat save games
    validate_data = true ## ensure game data files used in previous save match current campaign data files.
    allow_validation_failures = false ## prevent game to load if savegame or data validations fail
    Save the file. Done!

    You can play with any playable factions now and with a lot of players. You can still play with 1 faction.
    If you want mongols or aztecs, just check my mini mods.

    Known things:
    Ambushing with the last human faction making crash, so when this happens just press the white flag near autoresolve.
    Human vs human battles arent possible.
    If talk with a human with diplomat, the answer will come when that player's turn start.

    I usually put this set into all my mods\tuts - it has all the explanations and uses true\false instead of 0\1:

    Code:
    [multiplayer]
    playable = true
    ## faction mask for setting default starting factions in hotseat campaign
    factions = 1                 #1 = england, 2 = france, 4 = hre, 3 = england+france, etc

    [hotseat]
    scroll = false ## disable start turn scroll in hotseat campaign
    turns = false ## disable forced separate human faction turns (including diplomacy) in hotseat campaign
    disable_console = false ## enable cheat console in hotseat campaign.
    admin_password = password ## specify password for administrator access to the dev console when console disabled. Change 'password' to a suitable password
    update_ai_camera = true ## enable camera updates during ai turn in hotseat campaign
    disable_papal_elections = false ## enable voting in papal elections in hotseat campaign (only first valid human faction votes)
    autoresolve_battles = false ## disable forced autoresolve all battles in hotseat campaign
    validate_diplomacy = false ## disable diplomacy validation for incoming propositions
    save_prefs = true ## disable forced relevant hotseat options to be saved with game.
    autosave = true ## autosave hotseat game at start of players turn
    save_config = true ## save config file in save dir containing information about next players turn
    close_after_save = false ## close medieval II directly after a hotseat autosave
    gamename = hotseat_gamename ## sub directory name for hotseat save games
    validate_data = true ## ensure game data files used in previous save match current campaign data files.
    allow_validation_failures = false ## prevent game to load if savegame or data validations fail

    The tutorial fora might be a better place. General discussion is just that - general discussion.
    I could move it - How about this forum?

    I am just wonder if there is a way to view each others turns? Me and my brother play on two different computers but would like to see each others moves too since we work together. And I am also wondering if there is a way to do player vs player (or on a team) on the campaign with hotseat or a mod.

    Thanks Joe

    Welcome to the TWC forums!

    Well, if console enabled, type toggle_fow in it. With this you will see everything on the map (enemies too, but amubushes wont be visible).

    And for second question if I understand correctly: Battles arent possible where more than 1 human playing. But you can still play battle against/with that human, but his army will be controlled by computer.
