Tips against Hannibal?

As the Romans I've lost the first battle against him twice, I'ts like my legionnaires just get eaten up by his infantry just from the front. I can't flank them because their flanks are secure and their cavalry are better than mine. I would've thought that the raw power of the legionnaires would break through their center but it's in fact reversed.

Any ideas?

Try to kill him, and then do as much damage as possible. Use next turn to gather/recruit troops/survivors and finish the rest off. Worked for me

ya its awful hard to beat hannible eh . Before you engage him bring up almost all of your garrison cohorts and put them in the army/start a second. After beating it a bunch of times that way i can even beat him with just the starting army but thats just practise. I still however can't win if i let him ambush me i still get destroyed then.

Yeah. It just goes to show that Rome was not always a perfect empire. Especially if you can't beat Hannibal in the first 5 or so turns. Then you got rebellion on your hands.

yes that is, but for example attacking hannible rather than getting ambushed is unhistorical not the actual difficulty of the battle

Ive beat Hannibal on medium difficulty quite easily, ofc i reinforced my army b4 attacking, also i found a way how to retreat w/o any loses.

I know that it's not historical accurate, but I wait one turn, and then Hannibal attacks Ariminum. I get the army from Sicily and at the gates of Ariminum I beat him.

15 minute in he was hit with a bolt from a Scorpion and his army collapsed onto my frontline. :|

In my opinion is not very accurate, or at least could be more accurate.
Hannibal has only 6 command stars, I think he deserve at least 8-9 star at this point.
We are talking about one of the best ever general.
Also his troop should have much more exp.
At the stage the game start his men fought already many battles (expecially the ones who followed him from Iberian penisula ).
It's too easy for player defeat Hannibal, if not at the first turn, at the second or the third, expecially considering he can't refill at all losses in the game as he did in the campaign.

I think if you 'push on' into Roman territory you may trigger a rebellion in some of the settlements...
