err, in rome and medieval people got stabbed in the back and were double teamed all the time. And malitia isnt going to cut it against spartans, although morale, location (center of a city?), and upgrades would heavily influence the battle. same with the french knight. Also a bodyguard unit is a tank in medieval 2, and if you use the cavalry bug you can decimate factions with one unit of them.
although, you seem to be misunderstanding my problem. Its not that crazy things in previous total wars didnt happen, its that in empire every soldier fought one on one, ALWAYS. if a guy was surrounded he would fight one man at a time, until he beat all of them or one killed him. In previous titles a surrounded man would be stabbed and jabbed at from all sides. This meant surrounded men would be killed quickly, and when one was nearly out of men they would get overwhelmed.
well yes, parts of china and korea would make it better, but i wouldnt be surprised if each addition is a $15 DLC...And about the zoom part. Ok, you can enlarge Japan, but how far CAN you zoom in? I mean, still. Japan only isn't really really a good idea imo. I'd prefer it if there were parts of Korea and China at least
