DME 8.0 Installation Instructions (Not needed yet)

• First, you must fully patch the game Empire: Total War.
  The 1,6 patch is the latest.
  Patch 1.6 is actually called v.1.5.0 build 1332.21992 due to a mistake of The Creative Assembly.
  So how do you know for sure that you have the patch? You fully install the game and update with Steam and then check in your game folder if there is a file patch5.pack. If this file exists then your game is up to date.
• Uninstall any previous version of DarthMod (DM or DMUC).
• Verify Game Integrity with Steam (See how->Link).
• Run the Installation Package (File DarthMod_Empire_v8.0_Platinum.exe) and just follow the instructions.

Before installation you can also delete the file preferences.empire_script.txt.
in %appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts
This file can be responsible for CTD or freezes for various reasons and so then it needs clean up. (The game produces a new one after delete).

How to install the DM

1. Double click the single .exe file
2. You may have to manually browse the installer to target a destination path exactly where the "empire total war" folder is.
   For example X:\X\Steam\SteamApps\common\empire total war\ (An error message will appear if you do not pick the correct destination path).
3. After successfully doing that, the installer will automatically continue.

*Warning*

• After installing DM, if you validate the integrity ETW via Steam you must re-install DM, because Steam will delete automatically some files of DarthMod. The re-install of DM is 1 minute job.

• If you uninstall DM you must validate the integrity ETW via Steam to be able to play the official "vanilla" ETW.

How to install the DMUC:

If you have previously installed a DMUC patch, just install on top.


Else follow the next steps:

1. Download and install DMUC 6,2
2. Double click the single .exe file
3. You may have to manually browse the installer to target a destination path exactly where the "empire total war" folder is.
   For example X:\X\Steam\SteamApps\common\empire total war\ (An error message will appear if you do not pick the correct destination path).
4. After successfully doing that, the installer will automatically continue.
5. After successfully installing DMUC 6,2, download the DMUC patch.
6. Run the installer and follow the same instructions.
7. Play!

If you have previously installed the addons "DMUC Totally Classical Music v1.6" or "DMUC Drum and Fife v1.1"

You can install them again on top, after the new patch is installed, to be sure that they play OK.

If you have a beta version of DMUC 6,3+, then uninstall it immediately and verify ETW integrity with Steam. You may have to re-install Steam completely to repair your game. This beta version of DMUC had serious bugs and it is absolutely necessary to do that.

Useful information about the options of DMUC

The launcher of DMUC 7.0 is the same with DMUC 6,2 but some options have been disabled

The DMUC 7.0 includes all the new gameplay enhancements as an upgrade of version 6,2. However, for compatibility reasons the following do not work:

• The multiple DMUC Core options are all the same. Whatever you choose in the options has no effect.

• The No Smoke option is not available.

• The multiplayer does not work as indented. Please do not use (It never did work as indented and we have verified it). If you want to play Multiplayer with your friends then use ONLY the DM version.
• The no forts mod is removed completely. Whatever you choose in the options has no effect.
• The no trails mod is disabled because it corrupted the game (really cunning bug).
• The WarPath Indians is disabled (It caused bugs). Whatever you choose in the options has no effect.

You have to delete the extra language packs from your game folder. These may have been installed from other mods or older versions of DarthMod Empire.

The DMUC 6,9 and above uses the following files which swap between the DMUC folder and the game folder according to the launcher language option:
unit_pack_compatibility_project_v6_3.pack
unit_pack_compatibility_project_v2_7_german.pack
unit_pack_compatibility_project_v1_5_french.pack

Last and not least...
If you own a pirated version of the game, do not make questions here in this forum.
Do not ask, for example, where you can find the patch.
You are getting ridiculous.
Buy the game (it is really worth it with DarthMod) and this will solve your issues.
Do not blame the mod for your CTDs. Buy the game to solve the issues in some seconds.
If you do not want to buy, do not come here and corrupt the forum.
