Thread: RS II: Post your empires here!

    Default PONTUS SURRECTUM

Holy Brittanicus, that's a warning shot for me! I'm also with Pontus, H/H (BI.exe)

Just took Kolchis (modern Georgia) and now regrouping to take the north western costal city next to the Greek city (see pic). Greeks are Allies, so are the Seleucids. I have peace with the "Free cities" so I don't take the city directly to the west (dunno if it reeally makes sense, economically). No armies on my borders yet. I try to keep 4 phalanxes in every city as garrison. Maybe this way the enemy will keep away. This way, I can summon 8 solid units within one turn, in case of a surprise attack. I have about 2 stacks and still 20,000$ a turn. Well, everything is more expensive in RSII, so this is relative. Still it feels easy ... TOO easy. I'm pumping economy from the beginning, maybe this was a good choice. I have to admit, I also did this because I don't know to handle the buildings that give penalties, so I'm building everything that gives bonuses first

Wonder if some temples still give XP-Bonuses for units? Not in the description ... otherwise it would be confusing ... why not build only the temple with the highest bonuses then? Same with monuments. One kind of monument takes longer, costs more, yet it gives less bonuses (and/or higher penalties? )?

Also I noticed that the second kind of ship is better, but costs less maintenance.

I also wonder if I should destroy any buildings when conquering a province (I'm not talking about the culture penalty, this one swallow easily and the people will get used to loving me after some turns?

So excuse me now, I have to play

Nope, that's the RS2 map. You should see that same map in any of the campaign screenshots here. Is yours not that big?

I have no idea where im going to go when i start expanding properly. Armenia have masses of stacks, Pergamum have masses of stacks, seleucids are massing on ym borders for some reason and the ptolomies have a load of stacks in asia minor as well. I can only afford one stack at the moment, but hopefully when ive built up my economy a bit, i can afford another one before i'm inevitably attacked by one of these factions. Im a bit scared by romes expansion as well.

He is beeing steamrolled, I think he cannot spare a whole army to sail there. Or are you suggesting a complete migration?

Not much of an empire yet. I'm in my first turns but with the second battle I managed to eliminate Hannibal.

In the first battle he lost around 50% of his troops and I lost 60% (I sound the retreat when I couldn't damage him anymore.) He tried take over Arretium. In the second battle he found him self in an hammer and anvil situation between the defenders of Aretium and the new arrived troops from central and south Italy. He had only around 2000 troops remained. His deffeat was inevitable. Now we regroup our troops go to free Ariminum, and then South to teach some discipline in those rebels that had the guts to revolt..

EDIT: Playing in H/H with 0 turn recruitment, on ALEX

EDIT2: The battles are just AWESOME! Long with no easy ways to win them. The AI is much much smarter (Hannibal kept at least 1/3 of his army in reserve and send units where it needed to reinforce or take the advantage. Great!! That long battles and a better AI I expected to see in RS2!!

BI, AI is smarter, shield wall, troops can swim, and naval invasions are more represented in the campaign.

Alex, don't have, though i heard its superior to BI in some areas.

Well, currently I have a Macedonian Campaign, and I have been playing it with the R:TW vanilla exe. Will I be able to load it with the Alexander one?

Well, my old save works, even when I select the Alex engine with the launcher, but when I choose to start a new campaign, there is an option SPECIFICALLY for BI/ALEX. That leads me to think that this allows the mod to take advantage of the superior engines and their features. Never mind, I started another campaign and "blitzed" my way to the state of my previous save.
