The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get him as soon as you can, strike him as hard as you can and keep moving on.
ROMA SURRECTUM II-FAN
Next to that, there are also stone throwing siege weapons that fire one shot and kill a random general. Happens a lot, especially with flaming ammo.

Dude, did you just lose two generals for nothing?
The Gaellici betrayed me, and now they're facing the consequences.
The last battle against macedonians were my general "Agrippa" have crushed the enemy. This was their last army and family member.(Triballia,624 A.U.C)
Thanks a lot Tone & Graham !
You owuld likely do better in a battle (less casualities) if you had a more historical legion. 1 1st Cohort,9 Normal Cohorts, about 2 Axilia,2 horse units and 2 archers or about that. Thats what I use and it easilly takes on 2 stacks and can win with very few deaths to replenish
A shot from the battle with Hannibal:

Upper left corner is where our cavalry met, and on the left flank u see 3 units of triarii surrounded by 6 units of every kind. They stood their ground while i routed the right flank and the center.
Now this guy is a demigod?!

You leave 3 spaces empty if you include a general with that? He cant have a first cohort either since he's in the republican age. My republican composition would be more like 1 General, 3 cav units of some description, 3 velites, 4 triarii and 9 of the usual polybian cohorts. Although at the moment, ive just trained a load of polybian cohorts to act as cannon fodder/a distraction for the carthaginians while i sail around the coast and take their cities from them.
Awesome pics everybody . It looks so much different from other Rome mods.
