Guys, has anyone got tips for playing as Syracuse?

I'm by no means bad at Total War, but this campaign is insane.

The first time, Rome crushed me in three years.

The second time (and my current playthrough) I have managed to conquer Sicily and Sardinia/Corsica...and that's it. It's been 30 years in game, and I'm desperately trying to hold on to my current settlements. A roman stack is superior to one of my own, and my economy can't handle supporting more than 3 at a time, and Rome is slowly grinding me down.

I've tried to assault Italy, but Rome spawned a /preatorian legion/ which made me retreat.

Question: What City allows me to recruit Legio XXI Rapax?
I've heard it's in north Greece but I'm not sure.

Would be very much appreciated if you did. (No pressure though.)

    Oescum, Suggestica and Salonae.

There are a couple of AOR maps in the IMPORTANT STUFF folder in the main data folder.

, the second civil revolt ed up my empire xD. Btw, do u think you guys of Roma Surrectum can do a mod that covers 24 B.C - 476 A.D? With barbarian factions that emerge from the steppes , roman emperors ruling the world, late roman army reforms of Diocletian and Costantine replacing marian reforms, revolts in Judea and Britannia? Could be a challenge.

Try INVASIO BARBARORUM. Covers the late era of Rome, with the newest one covering Constantine and Diocletian, bu it's not finished yet. The others are though

You readed in my mind. I tryed all INVASIO BARBARORUM mods but unfortunaly I really didn't like it. Small map, no numbered legions, covers only the late roman empire and much more. Roma Surrectum style is 10000 times better and they know it.

Somnium apostate Iuliani is good though. Has separate legions a bit like this, but the recruitment is too long

Its a very good mod for the late roman empire. the numbered legions are there, though diferent of the imperial legions. (but then again they should be diferent.)

That would be tough i guess, you are talking about pre-marian and post-marian legions of the roman republic, the Augustan named legions of the principate and the roman army of the III and IV century. And this only in the roman faction.

I would prefer "small" submods relating to important events. DVK already mentioned the Claudian invasion of Britain. How about the Roman civil war of Caesar, Pompey ,Marc Antony and Octavian ?
