Thread: Bribing El Cid in 6.3

Default Bribing El Cid in 6.3

So it seems nearly impossible to bribe the infamous El Cid by normal means in-game. So, just for fun, I began testing to see under what scenarios he would be willing to change loyalties.

As Aragon, he was willing to join me using a diplomat I cheated to have Secretive 3, SmoothTalker 3, and GoodDiplomat 5. After adding nearly 1 mil florins to my spare change, he and his entire army joined.

Under the same scenario as Leon, he will not yield. Even if I add more money, and more stats to my diplomat. Even after I besiege him twice to whittle away at his numbers, he would not accept any bribe.

Does anyone know if El Cid is less likely to accept a bribe based on your faction? Anything I can edit to make him less stubborn?

Also, anyone ever been able to bribe him without cheats? I would love to be able to do this, but it seems like a foolhardy endeavor...

Whats the outcome when using princesses? Love conquering all and all that...

Unfortunately, Princesses can't bribe or marry rebel generals... so mine is useless until I can bribe him over to my side.

    Then I'll have CID BABIES!

Interesting. I thought that was possible as long the general wasn't married.

Well u might know that ur princesses can marry generals belonging to the Catholic or orthodox factions only but they can't marry rebel or Islamic generals.

And the answer lies in the descr_sm_factions.txt file coz they can't have princesses. Now if it's set to yes then they can engage the marriage event but now they will produce princesses as well when they come of age but rebels can't since they don't have a family tree.

    Anyways the sample code is:-

No idea why but I thought that someone managed to get Istvan by marriage. Must have gotten that mixed up.

Well i can't say about SS but in vanilla Istvan(Hungarian general) near bran can be persuaded for marriage by any catholic or orthodox princess.

But if in SS he is already married from the start of campaign then it's not possible.
    Fact:-A princess can't marry a married general.

Arrgghh why was I thinking he was a rebel general? Well, I was bound to pay for the lack of sleep somehow so stumbling from this kind of minor mixup into another one is a price I'm willing to pay. Excuse me while I run from this topic

OK. So what you are saying is that if I change it so that it says they can have princesses, I will be able to marry a rebel general, but they cannot produce princesses because they do not have a family tree?

    Thanks! It works beautifully.

No cheats at all and I was able to convince him to join me in one try using Urraca Jimenez.
It seems that even El Cid falls victim to:

Just on a side note, El Cid was not only a married general since 1075 but he also died in 1099 - so his presence in the game is quite 'questionable', to say the least... But never mind, good luck with those Cid babies!

El Cid can never die in our hearts to hell with historical accuracies.

    El Cid FTW!

Isn't altering descr_sm_factions.txt, so that you can now steal away rebel generals, cheating?

In a way u could say it but that way every mod is a cheat.
    Technically it's modding.

So El Cid emerges only in Late Era. I don't see any emergent script in campaign script of him in Early Era file.
