What does command do?

Okay I know the basics - command boosts morale and ability to win battles BUT I wondered if anyone knows in more detail the effects of command? Does it boost morale just around the general or across the battlefield? Does it make the general's unit and/or all other units tougher in played battles or just when auto-resolved? Does it do anything else besides raise morale and fighting skill (e.g. increase toughness, response time, etc)?

So, what does it do?

Oh and I also wondered if it is possible to push it past 10, e.g. if a general with 10 command but also +3 when attacking, +3 for sieges and +2 for commanding cavalry is besieging a castle with cavalry does he have an effective 18 command that battle?

I think the only effect it has is that it improves morale and the rally ability.
And bigger chance in auto-resolve

2nd post: If you attack the city with cavarly, yes you will have 18 command (but 10 is the max)

I think its capped at 10, no matter what extras you may have.
You know, I never really understood what command did besides morale. I just used to mark which of my generals had fought and won the most, and use his experience in campaigns that need it.

Command AFAIK gives morale boost and also determines winning an autoresolve in ur favor.
10 is the max limit for it even it counts above in total of traits and ancs.

I remember hearing or reading here sometime ago about this. One of the things mentioned was response time of your troops when you give the orders.

So does command definitely not improve the attack/defence of troops? Because I swear a 10 command general in real play (not auto-resolve) seems to be lethal and can easily take out a full unit 0 command general. It must do something, unless it's the high dread that's making the difference.

well usually a 10 command generals Has lots of experience chevrons , and the chevrons are the ones who give you combat bonus......

Command stars don't increase the attack and defense bonuses of the units this is proven fact by like tons of modders in TWC.

All i know is in kingdoms remember there is a feature of Hero ability well it gives stamina, morale boost, and kill chance increase by twice.

So the response time may be increased with more command stars but i haven't seen any proof of it so far by any modder. Command may also decrease the fatigue levels of the troops but there is no proof for it either. Every thing related to command is hard-coded.

I find that command does what many others have said already- improves your chances in a auto-resolve.
I know that Chivalry/Dread increases yours(Chivalry) or decreases your enemy's morale(Dread), and the chevrons improve individual unit morale and combat skill..I think.

That makes sense, so 10 command 10 dread generals give the army higher morale (command), lower the enemy morale (dread) and the individual unit has better fighting skill because of the chevrons.

No you got it a bit wrong bro.
If your general has a higher chivalry then your troops will get inspired and their morale increases while when using a general having higher dread then your enemies will fear him and their morale will drop. The same implies for the AI generals.
Also if like u have 3 generals in your army then u might know that only one with greater stats is incharge or leader of the entire army and hence only his stats will be applied on the army.

Now About chevrons:-
In total there are 9 chevrons points(3 Bronze, 3 Silver, 3 Gold)
In vanilla Every single set(3points) gives +1 defence and +1attack to the unit.
while
In kingdoms Every single set(3points) gives +1attack to the unit.

Yep knew about the multiple generals (and note that faction leader takes priority even over a higher command general in your army) and chivalry increasing morale but thought command increased morale as well rather than just making a difference to auto-resolve?
