    Default Which game units would you eliminate? Please, write your opinions.

    Hello everybody, I am writing here because I am very interested in knowing the opinions of all the people who have played Stainless Steel 6.2 and who visits this forum about a think. I am actually adding new units to my own version of the SS6.2 game but I need to delete some existing units first and I want to know…which game units would you eliminate? I would be very happy if I could receive as much replies as possible with your personal opinions saying which units you think are useless or that can be dispensed with and why.

    Out the top of my head:

    Sherwood Archers
    Battlefield Assassins
    Some Javelin units could be merged

    The first two because they are purely fantasy units; The javelin units because they are too similar.

    Some of the Late Pike, Musket, Halbred units. The standard versions would be fine.

    Personally I would love for most of the gunpowder units to get axed, but I know some people like to use them.

    There should just be arquebusiers, musketeers, pike militia, and professional pikemen (pikemen for all factions that don't have unique ones, like Spanish tercios). Waste of space IMO, plus you'd save a whole bunch of units to make room for Georgia if its implemented.

    Wrong. Without halebardiers you will die. I saw swiss pikes, in square, gold shield, gold shevron killed by russian militia! If want something to kill janisaries heavy infantry, you have only 1 unit of infantry can do that, the hand gunners!
    Yes, agree lusitan and normal javelimen must be merged. Even Alfforats can be moved and add some or sargent cavalry, or jinittes.
    Are syrian auxilia can be deleted. Peasents forks must be moved, added the paesents from last version of Point Blank RR-RC.
    Units can be moved, sherwood archers from england, billmens (keep heavy version), archer militia of England, add crossbows like all europeeans, french got noble and chilvaric chilvary. No difference in anything there. Egyptians come with nubian and desert archers. Nubian look like no use, when got desert and heavy armored version. Tueks have turkoman and turkish HA. One can go. Teutons have the sword militia. Useless in any pourpose. Better use a halebard peasents there. Acontistae are fun at first 20 turns. After that I use only the elite ones, who are better and many on pool recruitment.
    Hungarian battlefield assasins are few, ugly and no use at all. No more slav spears, even bosnian I can quit use them, because we have bulgarian brigands. Instead of bosnian can use normal archers(not peasents).

    If gunpowder units were merged it would be nice. Atleast the very close in abilities ones.

    Right; If boats use up unit slots radically eliminate them. 5 Types of boats are enough, i think, since naval battles are pretty boring.

    i'd like to wave goodbye to at least one of the branches of spearmen.. spear militia.. seargents... armoured sergeants...levy spearmen... perhaps have a single 'men at arms' unit which uses the skins of the various foot knights which can be recruited such as heavy swordsmen and chivalric etc as blacksmiths are improved. archer militia, archers, levy archers. peasant crossbowmen, crossbow militia... border horses/sergeants/hobilars could be merged too

    Oh yeah I forgot those. Why are there two separate units for basic archer and crossbow units when they're practically the same save I think one point of armor? Just merge them and call them "levy archers" or "levy crossbowmen". It would make retraining a ton easier and it would free up some unit slots.

    Like i said before in KOG project: marines, peasants, religious fanatics, some javelin units(way too many),some archer units(way too many that are simular).

    gunpowder units of any kind, and the rediculace ranged archers.

    sherwood archers (could be replaced by Longbowmen OR no unit at all, just XP bonus and then available for all factions)

    peasants. some of the late units, some units similar units could be merged, and all non-realistic units.

    I'd remove Peasants and just replace them with a basic spear militia that ideally could be trained/retrained/free upkeep in both castle or city.

    In my templar campaign, I had the idea to replace the Peasants with Religious Fanatics, and toss the castle spear unit and make the templar spear trainable in both castle and city. It was annoying to have to have both to take advantage of the free upkeep, then not to mention have to send them to specific settlements to get retrained.

    For infantry: I think the Marinae (called in game) or Pisan and Geonese sailors (name in text file) should be deleted.

    Syrian Auxilliaries units, only used by Jerusalem faction should be deleted as well. It is weak, poorly designed and a merc unit which costs ridiculously alot !

    And true, we dont use peasant, pilgrims. Militia should be good enought.

    For Mongols: I see dubplicated units: Dismounted Turhagut and Disamounted Turhagut . An extra letter a is putted in export_descr_unit.txt. In the game, they both look the same!

    For archers: How come we have longbowmen, and then dismounted longbowmen ??? The units are just the same, used by England.

    I think we should keep any sherwood archer as they look distinctively in game.

    Btw, thanks modders agains for this thread and the mod. It is just so awesome!!!!!!!!!!
