Hello, installing NHA for 6.4 is easy, just download Next_Heir_Mod_For_SS6.4_SS_Setup_Compatible.rar and copy it's contents to your Stainless Steel mod directory (Medieval II Total War\mods\SS6.3) and run SS_setup.exe (in same directory):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Choose your Era and you will see an option to install NHA. Select it and then click OK and start the game. Hope that helps.
it is working good for me! At last i can hold the blood line! Thank you very much for this submod!

Hey, is this no longer supported? It won't show up in the list of scripts. I've put all the contents in the 6.3 folder (same as the setup)
Problem when playing as the byzantines. The co-emperor was the one who started with the ancillary in his inventory, and I transfered that to a son. When the Main emperor died, and the co-emperor raised to the throne, some other, adopted child became the co-emperor.
does the new co-emperor have any traits or ancillaries that give him negative authority? there is a bug in the engine that makes the game consider this a large amount of positive authority, which makes him the favourite above the NHA carrier ...

So I tried to use this, and in the setup I chose the Next Heir Anc and hit ok. An error message pops up and says "unable to create a temp file, operation aborted."
Anyone else have this issue?
Can this work to some other mods for M:TW Kingdoms or vanilla?

It isn't working properly. Why?
Actually, you don't even need to use the SS_setup. The mod download contains a text file and a folder with three more text files in it. Follow the clear instructions in the first file, editing two separate files in your data folder with the information from the text files in the mod download. Works fine for me, using SS 6.4, HURB 5.31.
God I hate this thing, it is ruining my campaign because it doesn't work as it should!
Take my save for example, my current King is Odo (located in London), his heir is Aubrey the Crusader (located in Jerusalem), and I want Edward the Mauler (located near the Anglo-Scottish border) to become heir when Odo dies so he is carrying the Next Heir Ancillary, however if I move my king Odo to attack recklessly a rebel army, he dies and Aubrey becomes King, instead of Edward become the new Heir, it's Fraunce (located in Kerak, south east of Jerusalem).
WHY?????????????????
Here is the save file, see for yourself.
Edit: Forgot to add the configs, you must use the sub mod Royal Ladies of the Court lest the game shan't load.
It's early era.

Sir Brian, if you flick through the last few pages you will find a few possible reasons why Fraunce has become your new heir. The most likely is that he has some trait giving him negative authority, which the buggy game engine sees as very high authority for some unknown reason. This might be the reason why it beats the NH ancillary. Another reason might be that Fraunce is Aubrey's first son, which could defeat the ancillary as well (it's explained in several posts).

He has indeed ONE negative authority trait, and some two that gives positive authority, however I removed the negative one and then killed my king, he still became King. He is Aubrey's first son, so, if I kill Fraunce, then the King, will it go to the Second son of Aubrey or to the one with ancillary?
I'm not entirely sure. If you test it, please let us know the outcome - i'd be mighty interested!

You should know that there's no 100% guarantee the NHA will work everytime. It is because of the game mechanics, sometimes on rare occasions (like the 'left most son' rule), the game selects the heir on it's own, ignoring all the effects of Authority trait. And there's no way to change that I'm afraid. It is mentioned several times in the thread. In my campaigns if that happens, I prefer to see it as some sort of a roleplay event, in history the crown often got stolen from future kings by some other ambitious family members, so why not happen in the game? But really, it should happen rarely, it works just fine most of the time. Try to reload from a save a couple turns earlier, sometimes it works.
I'm playing as the Byzantines and the ancillary doesn't seem to work for me. I gave it to general Bryennios (i think thats his name) and kept him from any battles so he wouldn't be likely to become the next heir and i sent the current heirs son into many battles and he gained many positive traits(none of those gave him any authority points, nor did Bryennios get any negative authority points). Then the faction leader dies in battle but to my surprise the next heir is the son of the current heir and not Bryennios! This happened 2 times with the Byzantines and 1 time with the English campaign. So is it safe to say that my case is one of those that seem to not work for no apparent reason or could i do something to change this?
That's the left most son rule kicking in (see post #417 for a link). A workaround would be to not let the current heir marry. If he doesn't have adult sons by the time he dies, you're preferred next heir should become the next heir, IF he doesn't have any negative authority traits ...

Ok guys, it seems that in every save game I do, when I use this and choose my next heir, then marry him off, he and his ladywife rarely have kids, no matter their ages/her charm. In my latest campaigns for example, they both only had one child and it was a girl >.< Very infuriating since I'm using this mod with the intent of creating a dynasty for my campaign XD
