    I have an anouncement:

Agamemnon (Βασιλιάς Αλέξανδρος) will be absent until around september (we were lucky he was active the last few days, but we don't know how long it will last) so in relation to that, if you want to join the team you'll have to send me (I control the dev group until Aggy returns) or Boustrophedon the pm instead of Aggy.

Also there will be some new previews soon.

Since this mod will span from 1500BC
couldn't there be a minoan faction?
Let’s keep enjoying kings and wizards. But also remember to keep them where they belong.
Where they can do little harm.
    Where they entertain us.

I'm not an expert on Ancient History, but I just read this on wikipedia
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Around 1450 BC, Minoan culture experienced a turning point due to a natural catastrophe, possibly an earthquake. Another eruption of the Thera volcano has been linked to this downfall, but its dating and implications remain controversial. Several important palaces in locations such as Mallia, Tylissos, Phaistos, Hagia Triade as well as the living quarters of Knossos were destroyed. The palace in Knossos seems to have remained largely intact. This resulted in the Dynasty in Knossos being able to spread its influence over large parts of Crete, until it was overrun by Mycenaean Greeks.
The Minoan palace sites were occupied by the Myceneans around 1420 BC.
so I would say it's not likely that they get their own faction in our mod for now (we might decide to add them at a later point). Wikipedia Page

Provided there are sources, Wikipedia is fantastic.

I can't be blamed for using wikipedia as a source, it's not like anyone did research on the Minoans in our dev group .

This. When it comes to general history (not shaky things like the number of soldiers in a particular campaign some 2-3000 years ago) Wikipedia is 90% correct, and it gets more correct the closer you get to the present date.

The eruption of thera on about 1450 stopped the flourish of the Minoan Culture. Many of the Palaces were ruined. but the Minoan Civilization survived. The myceneans found their opportunity and attacked Crete. The Myceneans controlled the whole Minoan Crete only after the fall of Knossus on about 1375 BC. the Minoan Culture remained but had no political power. The Minoan Culture ended
around 1150 with the Doric occupation of Crete.

Correct me but in the first post it says that the start date will be 1500 BC. About 50 years [100 turns] before Mycene attacked Crete and about 125 years [250 turns] before the victory of the myceneans.

takea a look in this site it might help.

Thanks, however there are some things to consider:

    - I will have to see if the team discussed having the Minoans as a faction.
    - I temporarily have been given the lead of this team so this means it might be discussed when the rightful modleader returns.
    - Why invest time and effort in a dying culture/faction .
    - The research department will need to get a kick up the butt since there's not much happening with research atm.
    - I think our focus for now will be to finish some of the 2D-Art before making progress on research again (even though we have quite a lot of research done already).

So in short, for now the faction list will stay as it is (though it will most likely get a review later).

    I have another suggestion.
There could be invasions like that of the Mongols and timurids in the greek mainland. the descends of the dorians and aeolians... i don't remember the dates of their descend but i can find them.
In general for the Greek mainland i can supply you with a lot more (and accurate) researsh than wikipedia [being greek myself] as i have a history book of that era of about 100+ pages...

We could replace Saba, but they are very much like the Mycenaeans and Trojans...

We will have to discuss this, but if you want to help you can. The Dorians and Sea Peoples will, if ai-controlled, invade countries via scripting (and there will be scripts for the sea peoples to inspire revolts and get more troops in low-order regions, to replicate what some historians belive), but if player-controlled the player will decide to invade or not (though we would make them at war with Mycenae, so that you can't be allies ).
