I dl the second group of files and says bin could not be found, perhaps i will try the first set to see if its my error on how to install. If anyone can help let me know!

I had the same problem a couple of days ago from FileFront. I re downloaded from Megaupload and it installed fine (and the dl was faster).

For people that have problems with the filefront read this:

Open the 7-ZIP and select Part 1.1 and Part 1.2 press then on extract. It will be extracted in the map called SS6.3-1 the file inside this map (FULL Part 1) is called SS6.3-1.bin.
Change the name of part 1 from SS6.3-1.bin to SS6-1.bin. Change the name of part 2 to SS6-2.bin and do the same with part 3-5.
This is vital if you don't do this the installer can't find the file and will not run!!!!!!
Change the name of the installer to: SS6.exe

Put part 1-5 (SS6-1.bin to SS6-5.bin) in the same directory as the installer SS6.exe.
Run the installer and you should have no problems at all.

Well I have already installed CT 4.2 (with Dirt and Perm Arrows) to my SS 6.3 folder, haven't had an opportunity to get in to Battle since then yet to see if it's a problem, but wondering if I can expect any issues with this?

Other than Perm Arrows file getting overwrriten when I Launch from and change settings in the Setup.

just a little note on the changing characters age and children thingie... if it is the BYG version you want to edit, the line numbers are different... maybe a Ctrl+F search for family_tree is more appropriate than saying the string numbers?

Newb question...

I downloaded the fixes and placed the file in the SS 6.3 folder. However, despite having 7 zip, I cant seem to figure out how to open/unzip it and there doesn't seem to be an option to do so. Is there any idea on what I am doing wrong here?

After trying this, I get a black pop up that disappears just after appearing. So, after opening it many times, this is what it says...

Sounds like there might be something wrong with your 7-zip installation, I guess.

Thats what I thought. I'll try re-installing and see what happens...

EDIT: Clean installation with latest version and UAC off seems to yield the same results. I'll keep trying different things but suggestions are still helpful. Thanks.

I'm not sure if this info is in your compendium, at least I didn't see it.

BGRII,III & BGRIV Instructions

Note: The BGR version in SS6.3 is BGRIV_Enhanced, but as that version also contains most previous version features it may also be worth reading old version feature lists and tutorials.

What it does: It adds tons of stuff to make the game more realistic. Read about it here (BGR II, III and IV) and here (BGR IV and BGR IV Enhanced). BGR IV Enhances is included in 6.3 and can be turned on via the sub-mod manager.
