    That's what I also always wondered - how he is able to play it with his hardware - here have a look that is his rig and settings:

    HARDWARE :

    - Windows-7 64 bits.
    - Driver Disk Raptor 10 000 t/m.
    - Intel Processor: Core2Duo 8600 3,33 Ghz.
    - Graphik card Saphir: Ati Radeon 4870x2 2048 mo.
    - RAM G.Skill and Kingston 6 GB DDR2 800 Mhz.
    - Corsair alim: TX 650 Watts.
    - Monitor Delium 22".
    - FPS booster (download on TATW forum)

    ________________________________________________________________________________________________

    SETTINGS :

    Always playing with full smoke in graphic options
    resolution 1680x1050
    basse = low
    élevée = high
    ombres = shadows

    Cheers

    hmmm i pretty much had everything set to ultra and on a higher resolution. It just feels very odd though that the framerate doesnt drop of the actually game becomes stuttery instead just the units animaitons become jerky and unplayable. I will drop my settings right down to see if this helps but I really thought my card and system should be massive overkill on ETW even with super size units.

    Core2Duo 8600 3,33 Ghz is much better (and cheaper) than i7 920 2,66 Ghz for a total war game (RAM quality is very important too, and mine is somewhat average).
    the Ghz cadency need to be the faster, it makes a difference.

    i was looking for a i7, but the (honest) salesman convinced me to prefer the
    Core2Duo 8600.

    i pretty much had everything set to ultra

    ultra shadows + light effects are really laggy and useless.

    did you know this in windows seven ? it shows where your computer need better setting :

    7,9 is the max performing : i am surprised that my DD is the worst, it's a very good one, and i would have think about lower results for my RAM

    and i don't know why but now there is only 4 go recognized instead of 6 (don't know if it is for one week or 2 months)

    diadoc I have both the i7 920/ i5 750 and also the 8600 overclocked - but out of my tests the i5 and i7 - does beat the 8600 by a good amount in frames. But it is right that a high clocked 2 core is still very good in race (and the 8600 goes up over 4GHz easy - with a decent cooler you may play 24/7 at this GHz)- as the game developers probably write a bad code for the usage of all cores in games!

    If I would be on your side - its real time to upgrade - as this i5/ i7 series of Intel is cheap and top notch - (it is not the processor who holds you back but the older type of motherboard - and you still have a North Bridge on it! - which is now all in the chip!)

    with 250 to 300 USD you are fully in the race!!! (and DDR3 -RAM is also cheap at the moment)

    I love my i5 750 - its a bad beast!

    next new settings :
    - processor i7-960 3,2 ghz (460€)
    - motherboard which can get at least 16 go DDR3 (260€)
    - 8 go DDR3, corsair 1600 mhz (270€)

    ==> something like 1000 € (probably first half of 2011)

    Ha - if you go or the best of the best - yes that is the high end limit at the moment - so we will see battles with 50.000 troops soon - great!

    But I wouldn't invest in the best CPU available (always over priced) - as this would make me scare to OC that thing - pushing nearly 500 USD out the window if he burns.

    Anyway looking forward to this battles of yours..

    Other issue have you any idea how to make screens out of your pictures - where are the screens saved in? As I am already bored at the old ones - and some shares a not to underestimated time with them. Your Russian Pictures for example would be cool, and without any frame, maybe only the changing slogan!

    Cheers mate...

    the best processor is something like 1000€ , i never buy the best, but one of the top yes.
    i prefer change settings rarely but higher, and it has a cost.

    Wow those picture are amazing, very cool and it was pointless to resist ^^.
    1 quick question. Why does some of your factions such as ruusia, prussia and austria have diffrent flags compared to mine?

    thanks

    i'm not sure: maybe you have basic Darthmod and not DMUC installed ?
    or some flags of my pics are from older DMUC versions ?

    They are the usual DMUC flags IIRC-perhaps you just haven't seen them yet?

    btw Diadok how did you double the unit sizes again? I used to know but I've forgotten.

    I run a e8600 with gtx285x2 also. But i run on a 32 bit platform.I have no trouble running everything on ultra settings.I have no lag or any video problems at all in huge battles at sea or land.I only once in awhile get a wacked out lag on fort sieges. My e8600 is over clocked to 4 gigahertz.
    The e8600 rocks for a gaming rig.I would get better results if i upgrade to a 64 bit OS and add more ram i am sure. But i really am not showing any shortages.

    You could try your luck and get i7-930 instead, get aftermarket cooler, and overclock it. If you get the right varient (I think they are 3001A187) you can reach 4.0+ on water, and about 4.0ghz on high end air. That would save some major cost. I got mine to 3.6Ghz without trying too hard (no voltage change at all yet).

    yes i know, but i know too that i am a complete newbie on overclocking.
    for same price i could get i7-920 and 12 go DDR3

    i have 6 months to think about it...

    I wonder why that salesman lied to you.

    e8600 is good though, I had e8400 (OC'd to 3,8ghz) and it did well but still i7 860 blows it out. With this build I haven't met any lag no matter how huge the battle was.

    ATM I would recommend i7 930, 6gb of 1600mhz DDR3 and 2 GTX460's.
