    Default Wood Elves

    I've started working on some Wood Elves. I've got basically no experince with moddling/texturing ect but thought i'd give it a go. Anyway here's the first unit i've come up with, I still need to do lots of improvements to the texture and stuff, but here are some pictures of dryads:

    Cool! Maybe some of your work (if you keep high level)will be implemented in future releases of COW Now the bigest problem for the team is probably lack of person which can do some animations for new units :/

    Amazing looking units! It's hard to believe you don't have any experience in modding, since they look so good What other units do you have under development/planned?

    Hey, thanks for your comments

    I will post some milkshape pictures soon when I have time - very busy atm, and have been away.

    However I do have some Glade Guard almost ready!


    Is there anyone who can implement the units in the game when I have them a bit more ready?

    Here's the Glade Guard, as with the Dryads they're not quite finished yet. I want to add some of those leather head things they have, and maybe some hoods. Some things I borrowed from the high elf archer model but 90% is scratch built. Also as with the dryads I need to give them a veriety of textures and models so they don't all look the same (can someone give me a link to the tutorial for this).

    On how the army will work in the game, my idea is that I want them to be played quite differently from other armies. Instead of having a big line of tough troops, they should use skirmishing, hit and run tactics. Therefore they should have very low defence (they have no armour) good attack and very high charge and movement speed. The main units in the army should be glade guard and glade riders, being very fast and good and both range and melee. Then a few units of tougher dryads in support. Oh and of course all units will be able to hide in woods - this will also be their defence against enemy ranged weapons.
    So if you compared a unit of glade guard with high elves' seaguard archers, the glade guard would have the same ranged and melee attack, much lower defence (about half) slightly higher movement speed and much higher charge (at least double).
    This way they will quickly loose if bogged down in combat but will be very powerful if used to ambush and charge the enemy.



    Here are some milkshape pictures of the drayds. As I said they need still need work; some of the brances and fingers arn't mapped properly, I want to change the eyes a bit and genrally the texture need some tweeking. Also for some reason the alpha went weird when I put it in milkshape so use your imagination on the leaves

    And great job with Wood elves, eagerly waiting for finished units Also skirmish faction sounds cool, only thing is that AI might be in trouble with that kind of faction

    Nah, just increase the formation spacing of skirmishing units. Of course, they won't be very melee friendly, so could do with decreased unit size + damage increase to combat that effect.

    Edit - Having read what you've put, will you be using Eternal Guard? And Wild Riders - could those please please please be on Great Stags? =D

    Wood elve have tree Man also and it is not a skimming unit
