And thanks for the rep, Tabor.
I can't see the picture
Still not a single guess? I have to admit this is probably a tough one - but far from impossible. Some hints:
- The man in the picture had a more famous grandfather who led the troops of a major European power against one of the great military talents of history ... and failed miserably. He is also known for negotiating an unfavourable peace.
- The man in the picture fought against yet another military genius, it cost him an eye, but he was lucky enough to be on the side that eventually won.
- Later he married far above his station and cuckolded a far greater man
Neiperg the pirate faced married Napoleon's second wife Marie Louise of Austria.
Money is indeed correct. Adam Albert von Neipperg is the solution, born in a Swabian noble house, he fought for most of the Napoleonic Wars in the Austrian Army. At Leipzig he was a Lieutenant-Fieldmarshall. 1814 he entered into the service of Marie-Louise of Austria, negotiated for the new Duchess of Parma at the Vienna Congress, became her Foreign Minister, lover and finally husband. His grandfather Wilhelm Reinhard failed pretty badly against Frederic II of Prussia during the War of Austrian Succesion, in particular he lost the Battle of Mollwitz. Earlier von Neipperg already negotiated the unfavourable peace treaty of Belgrad with the Ottoman Empire.
Who is this? Someone tell me his Japanese name and another person tell me his Christian name for 2 reps to 2 people.
