Sure as heck doesn't look like Manfred

Is it Eddie Rickenbacker? Looks like it and he was a car racer too so that would make sense

Here's an obscure one i think
Hints: portuguese, minister of economy and finance, regarded "the portuguese Coulbert" for his mercantilist policies (the french statesman, not the comedian!)

Correct! You're up! Once again can't rep you yet. Owning you 2 reps already

Luís de Meneses, 3rd Count of Ericeira, was a portuguese general that took part in the Restoration Wars against Spain, helping to score a couple victories but his most memorable works were as a minister of finances and economy, in which he promoted semi-protectionism and fostered the manufactories of cloth, glass, leather and silk in order to make the kingdom less dependent on imports and on colonial commodities. He was however victim of a severe depression and commited suicide, leaving his legacy quite unfinished.

Coincidentally read an article about him today.

With those sideburns and blue eyes, pretty sure it's french marshal Michel Ney

Here's an easy one. Was present in a medieval battle where a heavy cavalry based army was defeated by infantry.

Think I know the battle if not the guy, but I'm gonna let someone else try their hand at this.

Coat of arms as well as architecture show us it can't be Agincourt (sounded like a trap anyways), image indicates the battle was romanticed later, so my guess is it's battle of the colden spurs.
Wikipedia informs me that the guy in that pic was the leader of the Flemish, William of Jülich.

+ rep Correct, William of Jülich was one of the leaders of the flemish opposing french expansionism in the region in the early 14th century. He was present in the battle of Coutrai (or Golden Spurs) where flemish pike milita defeated soundly the french heavy cavalry, quite an upset in the medieval world where heavy cavalry reigned supreme and one of the very rare instances in medieval warfare that footmen beat heavily armored cavalry.

I know that dude. Read about him. "The single organism that has had the largest impact on environment".

Thomas Midley, chemist involved in the invention of leaded gas and CFCs.
