Yeah, steam sucks for total war mod users.
I cannot help you further since I do not have a steam installation of M2TW.
Try this if you have not seen it by any chance;

Or search around for steam issues and fixes.
I just reinstalled this, to have a little nostalgia party. But sadly can't get it working.
I can get into the game and everything just fine, but the game is in a pretty small window on the top left corner of the screen, which makes it unplayable on this wide screen.
Problem is, whenever I change anything in video options, like anything at all, it will crash, giving me a fatal graphics error.. Now, my specs are no problem whatsoever, as I'm running all newer games on extreme settings with no problems.
I tried disabling the forced bordless option, but that did nothing . Is there any solution for this, or does someone have an idea? I really miss this mod, and would love to play it again soon!
Thanks in advance, P.
Is your Windows Screen Resolution equal to MTW2 setting?

No my screen is 1920 x 1080, it would mess my screen up to put my desktop resolution at the games default one, is there no way around this?
I changed the preference files to start the game in 1920 x 1080, and that works fine for the normal game, but crashes me soon as I hit the menu with stainless steel :/
The resolution of SS must show as 1920 x 1080, it mus must match MTW2 and Windows

The download links for the installer just go to 'The Escapist' magazine. Any different download links I can use?
I second that. After having my hard-disk break and needing to get a new computer I find myself unable to play this gem .

Gents, check the sticky threads sometimes. It helps

Yo is this thread still alive?
The only exe i got on my steam folder is medieval2.exe
"m2.exe", "kingdoms.exe" and "launcher.exe" doesn't exist.
Are you sure that you're using the Kingdoms expansion?

yo, I have the same problem, I downloaded everything fine but when I click the exe and choose a campaign, it says kingdoms.exe can not be found.
now I have kingdoms, I click play in steam and I can pick any of the dlc campaigns, I never touched anything just downloaded it to where it says it's supposed to go. but it's not there. I find it hard to believe no one else has this problem. Christ why is it so hard to find simple solutions
Why it is so hard for people to read all threads titles or to mtake the time to search a bit?
There's a sicky thread named New Steam Update + "fix for mods"

none of those mirrors is working, cant download it
The download links for SS6.4 work fine for me. Check your browser and anti-virus settings.

did you fix two handed glich?
Are there download links that work (I'm trying to do a clean re-install)? None of these seem lead to any download link.
Hello everyone,
First of all, thank you so much for this mod.I have been playing for quite a while now, and today with the Steam play option becoming real, I would like to know if there will be an option to play this MOD on Linux (Kubuntu 18.04). I know the steam version is available on linux, but I don't see a MOD folder in the steam install. Would it be better to install the windows version via Wine and then install the MOD? 'in that case not using Steam play)
I am a bit confused on what to do. I will be tinkering for a little while in the meantime.
If anyone can redirect me to a knwon thread, it would be great.
Thank you
Bigoof
