Thread: please help crashing on year 1282 on 4.0

    Icon8 please help crashing on year 1282 on 4.0

    Hi..
    I am new to this forum and modding and have been using your mod..
    It's so great although I have a problem. I was wondering if someone could help me with...
    When I press continue on 1282 (year) it will move my people.. but then crash with unidentified error to desktop..
    Does anything special happen this year that could be messing up game?
    i am not sure how to get a log of the crash.. if someone could tell me then i could put it up here as that might help some
    I am such a idiot at these things
    It might also be because i am at war with too many factions... I don't think this is right though
    any help recieved thankyou in advance
    I am playing on version 4.0 btw and when i went back to an old save game it was fine till i got up to that date... so im really confused
    Other than that it is a really great mod and i hope this is fixable, as i want to rule everything!

    I got the same problem around 1250 and I'm sure king kong is trying to fix all those little bugs

    In the main MTW II folder there is a file called system.log.txt. In this there will be a lot of junk, you really only need the last 3-4 lines. Post them here. I am assuming that you are using SSv4 + Hotfix 3 +nothing else. If you are let us know as that may be the cause.

    I am looking for it now anyidea where it will be? in main folder or mod? will most probably find it though in sec
    I have searched folder now and cant find it sucks ill play again for sec see if its in options to enable it.
    Can't find it in options either.. i am playing on windows vista if that helps

    yeh it keeps crashing everytime i try to run it. i am reinstalling it now, i had used umm i think it was quarks fix for the supply traits but that was it, hoping if i take that out it might work.. not sure if it was quarks i do not know. hehe

    No, it's not quark's character traits, that I'm sure, if it was the traits, you won't even go over year 1100, not to mention if it is a trait problem, as long no one is getting that trait, nothing will occur, especially since some traits are random, so next time you start the game you won't get it. The point is, the character_trait file have no problems, i assure you.

    My crash log is way too big to post here...it's basically claiming that half of the files are missing from the Stainless Steel Mod folder.

    I'm using 4.0 + Hotfix 3 + Quark's supply fix and the real combat mod change.

    It happened right after Gunpowder was invented...maybe that's a common thing between those of us crashing?

    The game is crashing for me too whenever I try to continue my campaign, i'm not sure if the year is 1282 though. Here's the log:

    Umm... that all looks normal CA rubbish.

    Try adding

    [log]
    to = logs/system.log.txt
    level = * error

    To the end of you Stainless_Steel_Mod.cfg file (its in the main MTW II folder, cannot miss it, big red, yellow, green, blue organiser icon).

    See if you get any more info.

    Well it hardlocks my computer when it does this crash, so maybe that's why it doesn't log it?

    heya I had to reinstall all of stainless steal 3 times and then hotfix 3 again to get it to pass the date i havent put quarks supply edits back yet.. may try that later... on an off topic though.. does anyone have a map with all the new regions/towns/castles on it for ss 4.0.. i have just over 100 regions now and failing to get many more because of supplies running out and generals going slowly.. they seem to all have scurvy, lazy, and undisciplined as well as out of supplies.. making it almost impossible to go anywhere with them is it usual to get all 3+ as i am sure they have more all together at once? sorry for the off topic

    Does that mean the error lies in the supply trait fix (though that doesn't make sense...you just ;'d out some traits didn't you?)?

    Not sure why you'd have to reinstall more than once to fix it...if I can fix it without going through the installation process I'd love to...or at least know the cause >_>

    Traits would not cause a date crash, messing with events might, but not traits (btw I just deleted them, alot quicker). If it was going to cause a crash it would happen at the start. I suppose there could be a corruption but I don't see how this would effect a date.

    But try downloading the file again and see what happens?

    Well, judging by the dates on when it happened for the three of us, maybe it has to do with the Gundpowder event. I remember watching the movie for it then it crashing.

    Edit: I reinstalled 4.0 and the hotfix and the supply trait thing + real combat for SS and was able to bypass that date, but then i crashed while the AI was taking its turn several turns later.

    I 'am new here and was trying out this magnificant mod, but actualy the game crashes, I'am at anticoch and the pope called a crusade against me , and I defend the city against the hungarians .

    OK, several things going on here

    1. Projectiles: There is a file called descr_projectiles.txt which list missile types and how they work in the game. Those listed are definitely in the game. Are you sure you have not added anything else?

    I have attached the original to this post.

    2. Mounts: Ditto for descr_mount.txt file

    3. Traits: The trait refering to Medina is seems to be broken, I would suggest you comment it out.

    eg. Open export_descr_character_traits.txt
    Find: Medina
    Put a ; before any reference to it

    4. descr_faction_standing: Thats a bit hard to figure out by line no, may have to get KK to fix that one.

    Try the above, see what the result is and post again.
