Faction speculation thread

I guess it's due to the faction/province limit and the game mechanics of M2TW - as well as families, friends and jobs distracting the EB team - if we don't see playable Galatian, Illyrian, Nubian, Indian etc. factions in EBII. Hope you'll not cures EBII even if there won't be an Illyrian faction. Anyhow, there will be 30 factions in EBII, and even with only the 20 factions in EB1 at least I always had a really hard time making my choice.

I was a little confused as I thought you were in the wrong thread (only saw posts from you in DAC-threads until now, which btw seems an interesting mod project since TATW esp. lacks of a bigger variety of factions IMO).

The Illyrians will not be a faction for reasons that have been repeated ad nauseum and no, Epieros is not "South Illyria".

The new preview should be up shortly, we're just waiting for the team member who wrote it to give us the go ahead (he doesn't have an account here).

Both links about Iliria had something to do with Albanians as far as I can see. So yea, it's probably something like stupid nationalist propaganda trying to connect itself to things and people that existed 2000 years ago .

We haven't revealed all of the new factions yet. So far the revealed factions for EBII are: all the ones from EBI (with the Casse being modified to the Pritanoi), Pergamon, the Bosporan Kingdom, the Boii, the Massylli and the Lugiones.

My take:
26. "Ethiopian" faction for factional dynamics between Saba and Ptolemay Egypt.
27. 2nd Ibearian faction - most likely based in Cantabria.
28. Middle eastern faction - most likely based in Nabatia or Caucasus.
29. Asian faction - in lands east of Seleikos Empire (Arachosia, Gedrosia, Sind)
30. European faction - Belgian tribes or Celtic Alpine faction in Retia or Norica.

I would think on Arevaci, based in the center of Hispania, or the Pelendoni. Both nations were involved in a long struggle against Rome, that culminated in the siege of Numantia.

Actually it means that in order for a player to succeed with Lugiones faction one must control all western Balt provinces. If some western Baltic provinces are under other faction control => Lugiones are going to struggle.

The Lugiones are an element of the Western Balts, cmacq was stating that if the important province of Luguwa was taken by a foreign power it would hinder the expansion of the Lugiones.
