Meh, Aetius was ahead of his time, he wasnt audacious enough to take the throne and eliminate the court
Also, rome was too unified yet decentralized because even if Aetius took power a pretender from Gaul or the rhine or the danube or Spain or Africa would rise up and that was something that theordoric and Odacer didnt have to deal with

Aetius was a military strongman. He had the support of all of the generals and the army to do it without being deposed by the east. But he was smart enough not to.
