-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
My friends, it is time to give you another teaser of First Age: Total War, a short presentation of the factions in our project which we wish to share with you!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Kingdom of Hithlum -
A kingdom set at Lake Mithrim between the mountains of Angband and the great sea, these lands house both elves and men, whom all owe their loyalty to the High King Fingolfin, son of Finwë. The lands are protected to the east and south by steep mountains called Ered Wethrin, and the mountainpasses are held by the Noldor and their Edain cousins.
- Kingdom of Nargothrond -
The Kingdom of Finrod Felagund is by territory the largest, yet the court of the King is hidden from the Enemy. Nargothrond is a land fertile in vast green fields of grass and forests alike, stretching from the Great Sirion in the east to the Falas in the west and north to Nevrast.
- Kingdom of Gondolin -
King Turgon sits in his court in Gondolin, surrounded by many nobles and a multitude of Noldor who together formed a new Tirion in Middle Earth. Gondolin, much like Nargothrond, was built in secret and even few Eldar knew where it lay for the Lord of the Seas, Ulmo, had given Turgon words of omen - that dark days were ahead. Turgon's kingdom is surrounded by the high peaks of the Echoriath, the passage to the valley of Tumladen hidden from the enemy - and the mountains guarded by Manwë's messengers high in the sky.
- The Union of Maedhros -
The sons of Fëanor swiftly departed east after the arrival of Fingolfin's hosts, and they settled themselves along the rivers in the East and the great mount Rerir. Their chief strongholds were at the pass of Aglon and the ever cold hill of Himring. Their lands rich and fertile in the south, harsh and cold in the north, yet enriched from trade with the dwarves in the east who often crossed their lands to travel west towards Doriath.
- The Falathrim/Realm of Falas -
The Falathrim settled themselves in the Early Days at the western shores of Beleriand, ever listening to the song of the Sea. They sailed far and wide, but few ever sailed to Valinor, for their homes lay in the East near Brithombar and Eglarest and the mouths of Sirion. Recently their lands have been enriched and strengthened by the arrival of the Noldor, and they held good relations with elves of Nargothrond, for Finrod had helped them strengthen their defenses which have been weakened in the past by the raiding orcs of Angband.
- Kingdom of Doriath -
The vast forest-realm of the Sindar is ruled by Elú Thingol and Queen Melian the Maia. The queen has erected a protective barrier which the eldar named "the girdle of Melian", which shielded Doriath from the Evil, and Morgoth's eyes saw nothing that transpired in that realm. From Menegroth, the thousand caves, Thingol rules all Sindar of Beleriand and there he is safe from the Great Foe of the North, but things are changing in the world - and Doriath will change with it.
- Angband -
The great peaks of Angband in the North offer a most inhospitable place for anyone who dare tread near it. The mountains are impenetrable, and the great gates that lead to the caverns beneath are guarded by the three great peaks of Thangorodrim. Orcs, trolls, dragons and balrogs all come from these frozen wastes and cold peaks - and deep beneath the earth in dark halls sits the Dark Lord Morgoth himself - waiting to unleash his fury upon the world.
- Naugrim of Nogrod (Dwarves) -
The Naugrim of Nogrod are a fierce people who live in the eastern mountainranges called by the elves Ered Lúin. Living in great multitudes, these proud dwarves often trade with both Noldor and Sindar alike, bringing them weapons and arms much needed in their wars against Morgoth in exchange for their trinkets and jewels. Times ahead will force them to take a more direct approach against Morgoth - and the mighty warcries of the naugrim shall ring loud on the battlefields in Beleriand.
- The Edain/Atani (Humans of Hador's, Haleth's, and Bëor's house) -
The Edain was the name of the first human tribes that came to aid the Eldar against Morgoth. Settling first in Estolad, many of them soon dispersed across Beleriand and lived in many places all over Beleriand, save Doriath and Gondolin. The fathers of men solidified the friendship with the Eldar with their own blood in the wars against Morgoth. The Eldar revered them and sang their praises for ages to come.
- The Rómendili (swarthy/eastern tribes of man) -
The Eastern tribes of man were in a far greater multitiude than the Edain, some of darker skin and hotter temper, these men moved ever westwards where they heard lay a fertile continent where they would be welcome. They found war and death in the west, as Morgoth was held in check by the princes of the Noldor. Many of them gave their swords willingly to aid the Noldor, and especially the Sons of Fëanor welcomed them with joy, for their was the hardest lot in their fight with Morgoth, and the Rómendili came in great numbers bringing fresh troops to the front lines. All is not as it seems however, and Morgoth has sown the seeds of discord in the hearts of Men.
- The Avari Elves -
The Avari Elves were the first to meet the humans when they first woke. They taught them how to talk, hunt, build huts and a great friendship was forged between them and the early tribes of Man. However these elves were in comparison to the other elven peoples backwards and uncivilized. Living in small confederations and under no direct king - these elves ever wandered the great forests of Middle Earth and rarely intermingled or had dealings with either Men or other Elves.
- Realm of Ossiriand -
Ossiriand is a realm far removed from the front lines in the North. A fertile forested land with rivers running through their lands, they eldar here are shielded by mountains to the east and the sons of Fëanor to the North, these people are much like the Avari not interested in having dealings with the rest of the world - yet the arrival of the Rómendili may prove difficult, as Men often have a way of driving away anything that they do not assimilate into their society. And the elves of Ossiriand with their nimble feet and light bows will not take kindly to being driven from their ancestral lands.
- Valinor/The Blessed Land -
The Land of the Gods, Aman, ruled by the Valar, the blessed land is a vast continent far removed from the troubles of Middle Earth. The Elves here live in their vast cities in eternal bliss, yet recently the Noldo prince Fëanor carved a path of blood for many Noldor out of Valinor, sailing east towards Middle Earth. The Valar have not forgotten, and one day soon they will send their vast armies to save Middle Earth both from Morgoth...and from the wretched Oath of Fëanor.
- The Dwarves of Belegost -
The Dwarves of Belegost are much like their cousins in Nogrod, great blacksmiths, traders and warriors. Trading both west with Beleriand and east with Khazad-Dűm - these dwarves will soon be drawn into a great conflict which will engulf all of Beleriand, and will affect even distant Valinor.
- Rebels -
What is there to say? They're Rebels.
