Thread: Can't Install?

  1. #1

    Default Can't Install?

Just downloaded the mod, however, when I try to install, it say that it cannot find my napoleon total war data or appdata folder, and that I should do a manual install.

Now, I do have a napoleon total war data folder, and I put the necessary files in there.

But I cannot for the life of me find my appdata, to put users.script.txt in.

P.S: I am running Vista, and I know documents and settings is now Users, or Program data.

It's probably hidden, so you will need to go to your settings and unhide files

You probably not installed NTW in the original folder. No worry, just put the files according to the readme.

If you want, post your datafolder directory path and your appdata path, and I will add them to the installer for next release to make it easier.

I'm willing to do this for anyone.

Well Windows for some reason put the "H" drive as my default . So I have to do almost everything manually.

    Lol!

Thats ok, I can add H as a drive, so far it goes from A - F...

But I will add it anyway, I assume you have the standard install directory?

You can also install ModManager and launch the mod that way. It automatically changes your users.script.txt depending on what packs you select to load. Far easier.

I might need some more detailed instructions...

I have no idea where to find this folder. Can someone possibly give me step by step instructions?

    Here, straight from the readme
    - 1 -
Place the following files to your NTW data folder.
    - GreatWar4.2.pack
    - GreatWarText.pack
This folder should be found somewhere in your Program Files folder
    on your C:\ Drive.
    - 2 -
Next place the following file to your NTW appdata / Application Data
folder in the folder specified "scripts".
    - user.script.txt
This folder will be found somewhere in your Documents and Settings
folder on your C:\ Drive, you will have to be able to view hidden
    files on your computer.
    - 3 -
Finaly place the entire folder named "ww1_main" in your files folder
to your NTW data folder in the sub folder named "campaigns"

It's a hidden folder. Try going to settings and disable hidden files, then look in your user's folder.

Ok, installed ModManager, put great war mod files where they need to go, and got this error:

Ok quick question, can a user only find that appdata/application folder if they install a retail version? For example, when I had ETW I tried finding that folder in order to play Imperial Splendour but I couldn't even after I unhid everything, (which is why I ended up playing DarthMod haha) and even I had the retail version. I assumed that my retail version had installed to Steam instead, but I was very confused.

And when you go to Documents and Settings, is there a Creative Assembly folder there as well, with NTW in it? Lol I already see myself having trouble installing this when I finally get the mod

    Yes. At least I do.

About ModManager, did you extract the entire folder or only the exe? Extract the entire folder to your desktop then create a shortcut to it. If you already did that, just d'l another one and try that.
