Game launches into Empire not TAR

Hello,

I have just installed the TAR mod into my Empire Steam folder on my laptop but cannot get the mod to start. All I can get is the preface where you get all the different options Grand Campaign, Revolution Campaign etc and as soon as I choose an option it launches straight into Empire instead?

Can anyone shed any light on this as I have checked the desktop shortcut and it definately goes to the TAR exe which would account for me getting the preface menu but why wont the Mod run?

Am I asking too much to get this to work easily on Steam.....

Ok, we will try and make this work for you,but first i need to know if you have the seperate TAR Launcher(icon)on your desktop together with the normal Empire Icon ?

yeah i had the same problem, even using the dedicated launcher and shortcut, it still goes to the regular game

If you both have the Launchers installed,and the hotfix applied,then try resetting the scripts with the ''reset TAR Diagnostics option'' in the launcher !

By the way I have Windows 7


I have placed the EUE_TAR_Hotfix.pack; in the folder address:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\empire total war\data

&

I have updated the 'preferencies.empire_script, at the folder address:
C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

Also did 'reset TAR Diagnostics option' in the Launcher

Now I get the Launcher and when I choose Grand Campaign (for example) a small steam icon comes up saying starting Empire Total War-get the Empire Total War screen and then get CTD every time??

Ok first on the Hotfix again to make this more clear;

The Hotfix pack(EUE_TAR_Hotfix.rar ) goes directly into your Empire data map

This Hotfix line: mod EUE_TAR_Hotfix.pack; should be manually added(just copy and paste) to the bottom of your TAR scripts(or at least to the script of the campaign you are planning to play)

your TAR scripts are to be found here;C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

Do not go into the preference script,but into the TAR scripts next to it,there you have to add the line!

But when for whatever reason you are resetting the TAR scripts with the Diagnostics option,ALL Manually added lines(in your case the hotfix line) to the scripts will disappear again and have to be manually added once more! Then try the game again!

This might all sound a bit confusing,but its really simple when you get the hang of it mate !

Ok I did as you requested but still just get the TAR launcher then the Empire 'splash screen' and then CTD.

Any further ideas?

I see it allready;You have forgotten the word mod in front of your hotfixlines in all the scripts

Yeah spot the fatal error doh!
Ok I have added that to the scripts but still get the CTD....

Any further ideas?

Final resort;reset TAR diagnostics,then add the hotfix lines,verify gamecache in steam,reboot the pc and start the game again !

Did what you said but unfortunately no joy just get Empire splash screen then CTD.

Do I need to uninstall completely? I have saved the Empire folder 'Steamapps' folder so I could just replace it and start again? If this is the best option just let me know and if there is anything I need to look out for when reloading the mod?

Only then reinstall TAR !

I installed TAR (after getting a few corrupt install files), the 8.1 update, the hotfix (with the addition into the TAR script), the UPC update 5.9 (though I did notice an earlier version of the UPC still in the data folder, but didnt touch it), and the Booster Pack 1.2 (in that order) over a freshly installed Empire. Yet it still launches Empire Vanilla.

I've tried the 'reset to default' option via the launcher to no avail twice. At the moment, I'm verifying (again) my files after deleting TAR (scripts and all) and will try a reinstall. Is there anything I'm missing??

Update: Re-verified Empire, reinstalled TAR (except for the Booster Pack), and I get a CTD when the script is modified with the "mod EUE_TAR_Hotfix.pack" line, and vanilla when I leave the line out.
