Quick ways to defeat enemy armies without engaging them...

Yeh...foudn this way, sorta just came to me heaps of other people probably have figured it out too, but i didnt so i thought id share. Playing as UP had Martha send a full army to invade dutch guana, i only had 3 colonial infantry units there, so what i did was give the region to the barbary states whome i am at war with but martha is not. Instantly martha army is ed off to india, and my army stays, easy just retake the city, they surrender. No units lost

I have also done this in india when i had about 4 armies attacking my one, so i gave the territory to france and it removed all enemy armies and then instantly took it back off france.

Has anyone else done this/got any other ways ?

Yes, and it's also a way to reduce unrest in captured capital cities. Just give Vienna to one of your other enemies and retake it you will suffer no revolt. Which is quite a cheat to the feeble AI and gaming mechanics (you can do a lot of impossible things here), but since the AI also cheats in harder difficulties, I guess it balanced out.

I thought this wasn't possible anymore, I've tried to give away regions on the brink of revolt and the other faction rejected it.
Might have been in NTW though.

it depends sometimes when i try and give a region to ottoman empire they get all snappy and say no when all im doing is geiving them land and not asking for anything

If you do it first turn or in non disorder it works, if its striking, rioting or in rebellion it doesn't
