After Gareths clothes are removed and replaced with fresh ones he is allowd into see the King some of his guards look at this man who admited to wanting to kill the king and move their arms closer to their blades.
Cassius de Mordred bows deeply before the King before speaking...Indeed Cassius you have shown that the trust I placed in you was not missplaced. What is this opportunity of which you speak?
Your Majesty, my informants have presented me with a target of opportunity, one which I feel would be most beneficial to the Crown and Realm...
Cassius spoke...
'Tis the isle of Orkney, Majesty. The Norwegian Overlord of Orkney has distanced himself from King Christian IV of Norway and has indeed been declared traitor. Our intellegence suggests that the Norwegians don't have the capability or will to bring him into line, infact, for some time they've been considering handing Orkney over to the Scots. But the Scots have no idea of this, or indeed that Orkney is so vulnerbale. I put it forward to you, Sire, that Orkney could prove to be an invaluable asset to our Realm; It would provide us a base with which to dominate the North Sea, as well as a base with which to envelope the Scotts should they chose a path of confrontation with England. I have already petitioned Admiral Ramsden for the use of the Northern Fleet based currently in the Irish sea. We would only require a small force to take the Island Majesty, and the men would all be locally drawn from the Western Realm so as not to weaken our eastern defences. I would take 300 men of Gwynedd, as well as petition Baron York to supply us with a further 300, an act his brother guest of mine Edmund York has indicated he would be most willing to do. A small number of knights may also be recruited, but I feel a force of just over 600 would be sufficient. Of coarse, I offer my services as leader of the expedition...
Cassius bowed, he felt that his proposal had been meritous and well-thought through...

Indeed that is a wise plan I too have heard rumberlings of betrayal in the Kingdom of Scotland now you must be carefull for the Jarl of Orkney aslo owes alligance to the King of Scotland via his holdings in Catherness thus you must make sure not to attack these areas. We do not wish for War with Scotland at this time. However the Kalmar Union on the other hand is weak beset by infighting they will do nothing to prevent us from helping Scotland by removing this menace from their shores.
The King looks down at the Earl
And that is why we are doing this is it not?
Cassius smiled at the King...
If the Scottish are with us in brotherhood and friendship, what affect could the English occupation of Orkney possibly have on them Sire? It could only possibly be both benelovent and beneficial to them, could it not? We will not stop en route to Orkney, this will eliminiate any unpleasantries to do with English boots on Scottish soil. If it pleases his Majesty I would incorporate Orkney into my Earldom, elect a local Orkneyian to govern the island and permit Scottish merchants equal access to its ports and sealanes. Would could the Scotts possibly have to grumble over?
Arthur, still kneeling, glances up and clears his throat...
In the beginning, Prometheus brought fire to man. Wrong move.
Cassius looked at King Edmund II
So doth the plan meet thy approval? If so we can leave at once. Infact it would most expedient for us to do so before the ruse is up Sire... It is good that England and Scottland may co-exist, but should our amicable relations cease it will be vital that our northern sea trade remain open via Orkney...
Indeed we must help our Scottish brothers in preventing this menace from threating the shores of Scotland. I give you permission to do this and restore the balance to its rightfull place.
Thankyou Sire...
Cassius bows and leaves...

Gareth could feel the cold eyes of the guards hammering down on him, but he kept his composure just as a Knight of the Order should. Approaching the King with his hands away from his waist, he kneels and lowers his head.
Your Majesty... I came to offer the fealty of I and the people Longley and Courcy.
He is shown into see the King

Gareth held a hand to his heart, but kept his head low as he spoke.
I promise on my faith that I will in the future be faithful to the Lord, never cause him harm and will observe my homage to him completely against all persons in good faith and without deceit.
On his way out, Edward gave Boghosian a look of disgust. After the Armenian spawn of the devil had entered the palace, the baron spit in his general direction.

Bertram arrived at the palace he allowed himself to be searched and to hand all his weapons over to the guards, he sat in a small ante chamber awaiting his majesty.
Your nobles maybe loyal but none are able to govern such a large estate as you know with my wealth I am more than capable of governing such a vast land during any strive.
