Chinese mythology is hardly ever used in games made by western developers, and every single game and movie uses at least a single thing that could be called a cliche, especially games because their lenght is so much longer.

I agree, the one valid criticism of JE is that it is the shortest of Bioware's games. We should have visited Phoenix Gate that we heard so much about. Another hub area would have made the game near perfect.

Neither of those are necessities for a good game so I don't regard them as valid criticisms. Furthermore Bioware never advertised JE as a multiplayer game or promised a tool kit so you have no reason to expect such features to be present.

I guess it depends on your expectations for games.
Well you have the wrong expectations. JE succeeded in everything it set out to be. A multiplayer game was never one of those things.

Bioware did make vast improvements with Jade Empire over KOTOR regarding animations and facial expressions, laying the foundations for Mass Effect.
Of course it could have been better, but thats the case with any game. Personly I would have prefered some more moves for each fighting style and a choice of outfits. There just was no customization at all aside from choosing a name and status you wont see on your character.
personally I loved Jade Empire and was extremely disappointed when it ended. Not because I thought the game sucked but because it was all over. i'd kill for a JE2, and while I find it hard to replay the game knowing what will happen, i'm tempted to do so anyway
anyone know any other good RPGs?
