    Default Firing sound problem

    Hi, I'm new to modding and looking for some sound help. I recently changed my elephant mercs into elephant archers by editing the skeletons and modelsdb. The troops and bow firing animations look and work good except for one thing. When they fire they make bowstring noises but they also make the gunfire noises as though they still had arqebuses! Could anyone help me to fix this?

    Give me the name of the unit exact name which in the vanilla.
    Also did you did something with sounds prior to posting all this?

    The EDU lists the elephant mercs simply as "Elephants" and the db entry and skeleton entry i edited were both named "elephant_crew". The bowstring sounds appeared once I got the bow animations to work. I tinkered around with descr_sounds_units_fire and that caused it to fail to start up. I also tried moving the "idx" and "dat" files that are in the sound folder, the way I did with the animation and skeleton idx and dat files to get the animation changes to work earlier, but that only seemed to get rid of All sounds.
    Once again any clues you could send me would be much appreciated Ishan

    Ok nailed the problem.
    But 1 question to be sure?
    when the archers fire u get bowstring sound like normal archers make in the default vanilla plus musket sound right?
    And you just want to eliminate muskets ones?

    Yeah I want to remove the musket sounds, they sound like archers when they fire their arrows but then the musket sounds also rumble. The musket sounds occur periodically while the unit is firing but they are not synced up to the animations of the bowmen shooting.

    So don't be disheartened anymore bro i have be watching ur entire progress while u made the unit and for that +rep.
    Now i suppose better than rep u need to see the solution.
    So here it is. I presume u already have the vanilla snd files if not download them here.
    Step 1-Then place them(39 snd files) in the data folder of your mod.
    Step 2-Open the descr_sounds_units_fire.txt file and look for this entry highlighted in red.
    Step 3-The entry should be like this:-

    Don't think just change it by deleting the one blue

    Now save changes to the file.
    Step4-To make the snd changes into effect all you have to do now is delete the events.dat & events.idx files from sounds folder of your mod and launch your mod so that they would be re-generated all over again saving all the changes you have done.
    After that u can remove the files from ur mod and keep some where safe if u ever get the craving to change something related to sounds.

    SO did you get it right of course u did.

    OK so I was on the right track,Cool! I must have made some other error in there.. They work the way that they should now though! Thanks again Ishan +rep! I was almost ready to give up and pretend that the elephants had indigestion or something!

    Just stopped in to say thanks again, I'm moving all my custom stuff to SS6.4 and being able re-read these threads again was invaluable!
