Actually Im getting married in the heart of "Arn Country" in a couple of weeks:
Husaby church was built around year 1000 and is mentioned in the Arn novels on several occasions:
EDIT: No, the clock isn't manufactured by Knight Templars but from later date...

Katyn
The FIRST movie about this crime and the following cover up.
In Poland from this Sunday - for now only human rights activists, some historians, VIPs and journalists seen it.
The official premiére is today - on the 68th anniversary of Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939.
It is a considerable task to deal with this subject , but I hope Andrzej Wajda is the right man to do so - who else than him, actually ?

Coming up a Russian movie about the Great Northern War, which also is the name of the title.
Swedes and Russians engaging.
I would gladly watch that film (hopefully with english subtitles) as that period in history fascinates me which may not be so strange considering I am Swedish
I find it odd that so few Swedish movies concerning the Great Northern War has been produced seeing as how important that "phase" was in our history, and those few that has been produced are imo not much to look at...

People tend to be a little shamefaced about the bits where their empire collapses methinks. But then I don't think there have been too many movies about the rise of the Swedish superpower either, so...
Oh, forgot to mention. There are Swedish and Russian voices. Don't know about finnish. No mayor Swedish actors, but Tzar Peter and Karl XII sure look like they do on these famous paintings.
Sorry for not posting trailer link, I'd hope you could find something on your own where I haven't searched.
It's not exactly an upcoming movie, and it contains a great deal of fantasy (being a wuxia adaptation), but I'd like to point out The Eagle Shooting Hero (2003). As well as being possibly the most faithful text-to-screen adaptation of any novel I've seen, it contains Jin Yong's wonderfully rounded and detailed portrayals of Genghis Khan and the Mongols. And for horse archery enthusiasts, there's a nice duel in episode 4 between Jebe and Bogurchi.
1612 - a Russian movie about the wars betwen POland-Lithuania and Russia soon will be released.
Here is the trailer

And here are posters for the movie
If there is not much propaganda it will be worth too see. For that what I know it seems that it will be quite decent, maybe even really good.
Anyway, nice to be a bad guy for once.

The Last Battle Dreamer.
Here's hoping it won't ruin the cinematic viking future!
Sean Bean eh? He looks quite Scandinavian/Viking like. Good choice.
Ryan Phillippe.. Sure, he's a good actor, but he doesn't have the "rough tough viking spirit" for such a movie, in my point of view. Will probably do a good job anyhow.
I'm not sure about casting an American as a viking... He'll probably need to adjust his language a fair bit.
are you talking about this ??

to me Karl XII looks a little to old and his uniform is all wrong.. he had a simple carolean uniform like any other soldier and his hat (tricorne) did not have a plume.. but anyway the movie itself looks ok
