Y'know, I've always wanted someone to make a really good Epic based off the Battle of Verdun, or Tannenberg. Or Grunwald. Or Lake Peipus. It's a shame they don't make epics out of semi-obscure battles and wars.

cool, u ever heard of "jarhead"

or that tom cruise flick coming about the american BOB fighter pilot

Sail your ship as part of a fleet. Devs previously worked on: Darthmod, World of Warplanes, World of Tanks, RaceRoom, IL2-Sturmovik, Metro, STALKER and many other great games..

Or Teutoberg Wald. I'd rather see a movie on the Roman defeat in Germany than another movie on Gladiators. With Varus seeing his men getting whiped out, the mystical and scary atmosphere in the forrests, the warcries of the Germans, the last stand, the suicide of Varus, Augustus saying 'Varus, give me back my legions!'

i Completely agree but i would rather it be based on "Gates of Fire" than the crappy "300" graphic novel

There is already a movie called the 300 which is about that very battle and in the list above a remake is being done, staring Gerard Butler who has also played other historical figures such as Atilia the Hun.

Personal I want to see the Last legion and 300. I wouldn't mind a remake Waterloo as well.

    This is worth a sticky.

I still think they should make a movie on the 7 week long seige of Constantinople. That seige was a true epic.

I have heard of this movie 300 and that it is really crappy. I like the idea of a movie based on the novel Gates of fire, I that book!!

Sorry, I've just seen they are going to do a remake of 300, would love to see that :original:

Boudicca , the epic about the Celtic Queen and her 100,000 strong army that oh so nearly threw the Romans back into sea in 55BC (Invasion of Britain). Randall Wallace and Mel Gibson are apparently teaming up again for yet another sword and gorefest. Details being thrashed out this year and shooting to begin next year I heard.
"My God, I wish we had the 9th Australian Division with us this morning."

"Australian troops had, at Milne Bay, inflicted on the Japanese their first undoubted defeat on land. Some of us may forget that, of all the allies, it was the Australians who first broke the invincibility of the Japanese army."
    — Field Marshal Sir William Slim.

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but the Vin Diesel Hannibal movie looks like it has all the makings of a bomb. I mean, Vin freaking Diesel. I don't think I could think of any actor I would want less to make a movie about Hannibal. First off, he doesn't strike me as having the intellectual capacity for real research. The chief writer worked on King Arthur and Gladiator, not exactly the most historically accurate movies...

I'm already picturing napalm elephants, Roman legionaries straight out of the 2nd Century AD, Stephen Seagal as Scipio Africanus, Vin slicing Romans in half with a little short sword....oh the horror.

What?! Vin Diesel is a nerd. He has his D&D characters name tattooed on his stomach. He might be able to pull it off, who knows.

    Dude, it's IMDB.

    IMDB.

The same guys who said 50 cent would be playing Epona in Twilight princess and Eminem playing Mr Coates in Advent Children.

But anyway, Vin Diesel is awesome. I think if it was Vin Diesel back in 216 bc he could kick Roman ass all by himself. He is that hard.

Dude. Can't I harmlessly muse about a rumor? That's all I was doing. I'm not saying because it's on IMdB it will be made. If I'm not mistaken, forums pretty much exist for people to muse about stuff they have little or no control over....Please excuse me for following the trend.

And the Vin Diesel rumor has been around for a long time, it's not something just made up by imdb.

What is that 'The Serpent and the Eagle' about? I don't know, but it's a good title ...

What I want to see is:

    Battle of Verdun
    Battle of the Somme
ANY World War I film of good quality with good acting and a lot of mud and blood. No punches held.

    Alternatively:
Gates of Fire, not freakin' 300.
