You seem to have a pretty lofty opinion of Stannis. He has a very strong sense of Justice, yes, but that is actually a hindrance to him. He lets it blind him to reality He expects people to believe things like the fact that Joffrey is a bastard without any proof just because it is true. How do they know it is true, because he says it is?! He has a very lofty opinion of himself and I think he is somewhat arrogant. He also expects people not to care that he is asking them to abandon their religion because he is the rightful heir and he just expects everyone to love him and want him to be their ruler. He does not have a feasible plan to win the kingdom to his side until the end and repeatedly alienates people to boot. Because he is an atheist, he does not realize how much importance people put on religion and that is why he was easy prey for Melisandre in the first place. Melisandre came to him knowing exactly what she needed to say to get him on her side. She stroked his ego by telling him that he is a promised hero and sure enough, he saw more benefit to him in changing his religion because of it. Yes I do not like Melisandre and I believe she thinks she is doing Rh'ilor's work but she in fact is not. I think she will eventually turn into one of the great villians of the books, but I also do not like Stannis. The man has his sword rammed so far up histhat he cannot bend without cutting himself on his sense of justice. I do not trust his motives and believe he has something up his sleeve and ulterior motives that he does not let on.
