Default What if the Rebels hadn't won the American Revolution?

A rather simple answer, but I find it fun to talk about.

    Dam Rebel scum!

OT: Britain would have been slower to colonize India/possibly more powerful in the long-term.

LOL, nice picture. Yah the British might have had more power in the long term due to more regions in America. The British still had colonies in Canada but US colonies would've cemented there better.

The United Kingdom would still have colonised India: it wasn't a state/government effort, the East India Company did a lot of it for us and they'd still have been in India.

With the US as part of the Empire, the World Wars would have been easier. The US would have become a Dominion like the other anglo states, and would've entered the wars on time, giving us a greater advantage.

They probably would have kept trying.

And given that the 13 colonies profited the empire less than Jamaica (Yes, that Jamaica) at the time, the Brits would problaby have given up on them.

They might of kept trying but they might also backed out due to loss of life.

    Good observation about Jamaica though.

America would have been granted independence at some point in the future the only thing I would worry about was that my own country might not have exsisted had America remained loyal.

Yes, since we now have a Parliamentary Democracy America eventually would have settled down their revolutionary fervor.

I've read an alternative history where Britain won the american revolution, was quite interesting. Basically the population of the American colonies increased at a rate expodential to the population growth of the British isles - eventually with the massive increase of the 'british' population in the America's political importance and emphasis gradually shifted from Britain to the Americano-british population, with political power and governance being issued from New York rather than London. WW1 ends in 1916 with the British empire having crushed the Germans. The essay ends in 1927 with the coal mine and steel works riots of Wales and the declaration of British independence from foreign tyranny . If i have the time i will track it down and post a link for your enjoyment
