The year is 2010 and the world is in chaos.
All over the world, financial collapse is imminent. Starting in 2008, it has continued on for two years, unsolved by the world's leaders. All eyes went to the newly elected President of the United States Barack Obama to solve the problems blamed on former president George Bush that the world was suffering. So far, despite billions of dollars spent on bail-outs, nothing as been accomplished, and the little gain the economy has gotten can mostly be attributed to normal market increase. Many economists, like they did with FDR, are accusing Obama of merely prolonging the problem and slowing financial recovery.
Due to these liberal changes by President Obama, many in the country whisper of a possible second American revolution, and with gun purchasing, militia activity, and overall discontent on high, it may not be far off.
In Europe, the European Union is in danger of falling apart, as many of the member nations have been forced together to bail out the fragile Greece. Because of this, many nations have considered pulling out, especially Germany, and-oddly enough-Greece.
In what has become an old dispute in the Middle-East, the people of Palestine still cry for independence from Israel, and so far nothing has come. Terrorist attacks are nonstop there, coming out of Palestine, Lebanon, and occasionally Jordan and Egypt.
The nations of North Korea and Iran have become a threat to the world as rumors build of their making of a nuclear weapon. Despite repeated denials, more and more evidence is being unearthed to support the theory. The world watches and waits to see how the aggresive the superpowers will be against these rising threats.
In Afghanistan, troops from countries all over the world are dealing with terrorist insurgents who threaten the considered legitimate government of President Hamid Karzai. Their methods will determine how the war turns out. Many doubt victory after observing the various failed attempts to conquer the harsh lands of the Afghan people.
Relations between the US are at an all time low since the disbanding of the Soviet Union, and tension has built as Russia starts to reassert its dominance over the previous Soviet States. The country, under the strong leadership of Vladimir Putin, who -although only holding the Prime Ministry- controls the presidency of Dmtri Medvedev, has begun to grow into a true world power. Many fear that when the term of the popular Prime Minister runs out, he may be chosen as a Despot by popular majority.
The not-so-communist nation of China has world powers shaking in their boots as it successfully commands its huge population to glory and begins to overtake what were considered major economic powers. Many fear its looking for expansion, and its tight hold on nations like America.
