I'm mainly thinking about the warp which could possibly exist but not as we know it. This could be what scientists have discovered in another form.

Furthermore, is it possbile that Tyranids or another alien species e.g Tau or Orks could exist on a far flung planet. As Steven Harking has said there is life in our galaxy other than ours.

Life in our galaxy is probably. IMO anyway.

The warp could exist, another dimension if you will.

In terms of stuff exactly like 40K existing, I highly doubt it. However stuff like that in 40K is almost a certainty. Its almost a given that there will be some insectoid race we'll come across in tens or hundreds of thousands of years when we actually get into space. I just hope to shite we don't walk into the 41st Millenium. We'd be ed.

Of course there are other things out there in space. What we have discovered of space is so tiny compared to what we know it is. And even then, we don't even know where it ends, or what's outside space. How far it goes etc. Thinking about stuff like this is one massive mind. But yeah, there's no doubt in my mind that there are other races out there we haven't found. Whether or not they are exactly like the Tau and Tyranids as you said, I highly doubt. But its stupid to assume there is nothing else out there.

Things like the warp though... well I can't be sure. Who knows. Humanity is young as a space-faring race. We've barely touched the outer edges of our little zone. Who knows what we'll find in the future. Let's hope something like the Warp does not exist though.

If there is, as long as its not Orks and the eye or terror, or chaos for that matter, then why not? OH wait, no necrons too.

Technically though, i can see the eye or terror or something near it being true to some an extent. I mean, c'mon, the movie Event Horizon is good example

Let's just hope for our sake that:

    - Tyranids don't exist.
    - Orks don't exist.
    - Necrons don't exist.
    - Chaos doesn't exist.
    - Dark Eldar don't exist.
    - Imperium of Man doesn't exist (although that would be so impossible for the IoM to exist same time as us).

Even out of those not listed, they are still so powerful compared to us (Tau) we'd be ed anyway as they'd absorb us into their Empire.

Basically, let's hope nothing in 40K comes true.

I'd throw my lot in with the Tau. They're the only ones with more on their minds than KILL KILL KILL!

Unless someone on earth pulls a stunt that results in the loss of Tau life, though the Tau seem like the forgiving kind

Imperium aren't all bad, I would mind being part of that toiling machine if I were in the 40K universe.

I wouldn't throw my lot in with the Tau. If you read one of the Imperial Armours it states how some captured Elysian guardsmen were forced to work in salt mines on pain of death.

Few things to point out there.

    (1) Elysian Drop Troopers. Due to the nature of their attacks, they probably pissed off the Tau a load by doing some dirty underhand thing to them.
    (2) They obviously refused to become Gue'vesa in service of the Tau, otherwise this was an isolated incident.
    (3) They're soldiers fighting the Tau. What I'm saying is, I'd like to join the Tau. I wouldn't fight them, then randomly join them.
    (4) Working in a salt mine in the 40K universe is a hell of alot better than what other races would do to captured soldiers.

Well considering all the choices, at least the Tau will leave you in peace to some degree more or less. That or the Eldar possibly as well. Still wouldn't want to cross paths with them either though

Okay just to point out here I am a fanatical Imperium supporter. Plus Tau look funny and Eldar sound gay.

But another note, I'd probably be better off in the Imperium than some people, because I come from high income family. So in Imperial social hierarchy I could be an officer or bureacrat, governor etc instead of a factory worker.

Its more the general lifestyle and attitudes of the Imperials that I couldn't live by, not just the social position. Their whole world is dark and oppressive, there's no light or happiness.

Not exactly, have you ever read any of the Gaunts Ghosts books or other Imperial guard novels. The times when troops are on leave seem pretty jolly. (Discounting the fact that Tanith was destroyed)

Jolly in comparison to the standard Imperial life. Not compared to a nice happy Tau life deep inside their Empire.

If the IoM kept a more sincere and less serious and grim civilian life while still keeping the kill every alien on sight modus operandi, yea IoM all the way. It's not like that however

How do you know they don't, I mean, all we have for example are there armies and some hive planets.

I'm sure life on an agri-world would be quite pleasant.

Tanith for example, before that got blown to pieces it was lumberjack based.

    Wouldn't be too bad.

I technically meant overall for the citizens of the IoM. I mean i will wholeheartedly support the deaths of aliens, but the policies such as the 1st war of Armageddon, where the entire population, including its PDF and IG were killed along those lines due to being tainted by chaos despite the brave efforts of the citizenry and its soldiers in arms defending their home. I don't have a problem with the IoM, its just its too along the lines of being too harsh for the smallest of things.

The novel Fifteen Hours began with a young man about to leave for the Guard. He was from a farmer family and, admittedly, it seemed actually very serene. Peaceful calm evening with a nice sunset.

I guess, life in this kind of place wouldn't be as bad I suppose.
