Thread: Turn time

  1. #1

    Default Turn time

    Hi,
    is there a way to decrease turn time? I play with compilation + BGR IV.
    When I start an Early Era game with Venice, do absolutely nothing and end the turn it takes over a minute till AI is done loading. This is unplayable, when the AI gets bigger empires it will take 2-5 minutes...

    Has anyone an idea how to decrease it?

    e: Oh and something unrelated, but as long as I have a thread open:
    Is it normal that the music is unfitting now?
    For example I play with HRE and suddenly I get Russian music :/

    Go take a piss

    Or add

    Code:
    windowed = true
    borderless_window = true
    in the cfg under video, and alt tab to watch some porn while the AI is playing

    Some real tips would be great :p
    I lowered campaign map resolution to minimum and turned off shadows. Didn“t help.

    If there“s no other way to decrease time, can I install BGR 2.5 with this compilation? That“s supposed to be faster...

    The problem is that The Engine is being stretched to the maximum (Already some maximums in the script have already been reached) due to the amount of content added in this expansion, so this can not really be resolved, my computer is more then capable of running this, but it still runs slow due to the coding and the Engine, not the computer specs.

    We apologize, but this is what you get for the content and improved AI scripts.

    I know that if you don't play with the BGR additions and just use the default RR/RC installation it reduces it down to about a 1 minute wait. Using the BGR code is what really pushes the engine to its maximum.

    That isn't normal at all, would be easily fixed with an SS+RR/RC reinstall.

    It's normal for turns to take a long time when you play with BGR cause BGR has a lot scripts that run. If you want faster turn times you can try playing without BGR.

    I“m now playing with BGR 2.5. I think it works as it should and the turn time went from 70 seconds down to 40. Not perfect, but I can live with it :p

    Posted by Soulblade on my user page:

    No, you just delete Germanicu5's Assimilation Script, its the script that doesn't allow you to change taxes, build, recruit in new conquered settlements, there is an entry for all 199 settlements and it takes about... 10'000 lines of code!

    campaign_script.txt file in \Medieval II Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign.
    Ctrl+F Germanicu5 (I recommend using Notepad++)
    and delete everything till his 2nd script for sacking camps (Germanicu5 Looting Script), which is also long but i prefer to keep it because its really useful.
    As I said the first script is 10'000 lines long, it will take a while to delete if you don't use Notepad++

    Also, you can remove it from the other campaigns too, just delete the script from custom_script.txt file from the other campaigns (located at \Medieval II Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data\world\maps\campaign\custom\ )

    AAlso, if you don't like the "Young X Princess comes of Age", "X king died", "X capital fall" messages during campaigns, which also a reason for longer time between turns, you can delete them too, they're located in the same file, Ctrl+F Player Notifications. They're not too long.

    Good luck, oh and you owe me a rep for this ^^.

    The assimilation script is also responsible for the added turmoil several rounds after the capture of a settlement.

    I didn't find the looting script though, is it supposed to be right after the assimilation one?

    Deactivating the assimilation script by germanicus gives a boost too.

    Thank both of you
    Without Pricess comes of age and Assimilation Script I am now at 27 secs in the first round with Venice. That“s more like it.
    €: Taking out Capitals and Leaders too gets me additional -7, which is worth it imo

    Oh hai, yeah, I've also removed princesses, death of monarchs and fall of capitals.
    Looting script is neat, it doesn't take much space and gives you money, it's the script that says "Camp sacked!".

    Thanks guys, my loads are a bit quicker now.

    Are there any other scripts to shorten or delete for faster loading times?

    I hate the construction or recruitment notices. How to get rid off them?

    You don't. They are a hard-coded part of the game.

    I deleted the princess and assimilation scripts and I noticed an improvement in end-turn waiting time. However, now I reloaded an older campaign and I'm still getting the longer times and the princess notifications. I haven't yet taken a settlement, but I assume the assimilation script is still active for this campaign. What can I do to get rid of them from existing save games? Or are these part of those files that are saved along with the game and I cannot remove?

    The changes in campaign_script.txt are not save-game compatible. Blame CA.

    Nooooo.

    Ok, thanks.

    I'll just keep going, since I'm 200 turns in and things are going well. Except for my stupid stables acting up.

    Yes!!

    I've been playing 6.1 lately because of the unbearable turn time (up to 6-7 minutes). I removed everything Germanicu5, plus the princess notifications (I find the fallen capital and dead king notifications quite useful, however, and kept them). I started a new game and my time is 30-40 seconds!

    My opinion is that what is gained with the Germanicu5 script is not worth the cost, and it should be made optional or deleted.
