The Events Leading up to the Battle of Paris

How the mighty are fallen. The French Kingdom, which had officially succumbed to the revoulotionary spirit of the 1790s, had fought on in secret. The region of Britanny, a peninsula in North-Western France, was their safehaven, where they fought on, afraid to call for help, looking over their shoulders for spies of the Directorie, and later of Napoleon. But, in 1804, it all changed. Napoleon, recognising that it would be a hard fought battle if he tried to take on the brave Royalists, made a deal- they would recieve the peninsula of Britanny, if they would recognize Napoleons sovreignity over the rest of France. The Royalists, of course, agreed, and, as Napoleons troops moved out of the surrendered lands, they set up a new Kingdom of France. Britain, always politically savvy, recognized them and signed an alliance of friendship with them.

For much of 1805, the French Kingdom traded and upgraded her infastructure, building fortifications around Renne, the capitol city. Only in late October did they begin to build up their army. The French, distracted elsewhere, ignored this increasing threat. Until March of 1806.

The French Royalist Army marched from Renne against Normady. The French garrison there, weak from Napoleons incessent campaigning in Germany, was overwhelmed. The Royalists built up their forces once again, as the French scrambled together units from accross France to defend Paris. A small, Napoleonic jab against Renned failed- the line was stabilised... until August.

The Royalist army marched against Paris. This battle would show would turn the tides of war on the side of either Napoleon or the Coalition- this was the most important battle in European history, whether the Old Order could return, or the Revoulotionary Spirit could survive in it's time of trial. With bated breath, the Roaylists and Imperials looked at each other from redoubts and entrenchments, knowing they would play a part in destiny. After two weeks, the Imperials marched out.

The battle had begun.
