Just encountered another problem. Was playing as the Earl of Kildare (yes, Ireland again) and I was conquered by the Duke of Meath and am now his vassal. I just conquered the County of Breifne and granted it to my son so I wouldn't lose it on succesion. But when I do that, he immediately declares independance and the Duke of Meath just smashes him into the ground. I lose my county and no one from my dynasty gains anything. Anything I can do?

Its because you are an earl, and granting him it makes him an earl, you cant have same tier vassals.

I think he knows that. I just think he wanted to know if there was any thing to make his heir less retarded and not declare independence when he obviously couldn't win.

has anyone had a problem with alliances whenever I make one it says i cannot call family to war. Im getting comp stomped by a huge muslim alliance as georgia becuase they keep hogging the mercs and my 3 buddies refuse to help

Maybe theyre scared of the Muslims, the AI might think its hopeless.

i also took over touluse entierly, all of brittany, the duchy of aragon, navarra, nearly all of anjou, all of bourges and orleans. i will show a pic later

I had a 0 diplomacy chancellor asking to replace a 16 one though.

i exploited the moment and wrestled my independance from france. so did normandy.

Well it's going better for you than it is for me. Just a tip to everyone, never ever become King of Scotland. I still don't know how I got the title but all I know is that since I've got it, everyone has declared war on me, I've had three of my characters die prematurely, just lost land in Ireland and for what? Well a lot of monthly prestige to be fair but, at the best times, an army that totalled 900 levies. Yep, between all of Scotland and a third of Ireland, the most troops I could call upon was 900. I've lost two wars against the King of Ireland (allied with the King of France) and the King of Munster. Then the Duke of the Isles declares war on me again, with his massive THREE counties, and his army is bigger than mine! Then the King of England declared war on me so I just quit, for now anyway

I have no idea if this is unusual but in my game England has collapsed completley.

If you are William the Conqueror then your problem is that you are holding too much land - hand it out to the counts and dukes and bring your demesne down to 9 counties. That should solve that problem.

My biggest problem was the Counts of Northumberland and Cornwall die and their lands go to some undeserving pretender. Northumberland goes to the Scots. How unworthy are they? *cough*

try improving relations with your vassals, that will make them give you more men. i was able to get 10k fighting burgundy+normandy

And change your laws to give you max levies.

William "the bastard" died in prison in my game and house Godwin still rules in England after kicking out the Norse and Vikings. That being said, 1170ish and England is in civil war, York is ANGRY!! Every game that I've played has been different. I'm lovin it!

The French and the HRE is crazy aggresive though, I have been playing as Aquatine now and during thirty years of game I don't think I have seen a single year of peace.

I think that happens often if you have the brave trait.

I'm also playing Aquataine and I spend my time bullying Toulouse and building up my stuff.

BTW guys build castle villages they make insane amounts of money.

France in my Armenia game owns 1/2 of spain. What im saying though is a good strategy. If yoi are a french vassal and they have low crown authority you can DOW their vassals within the realm and not risk war with the crown. So you can take over spain yourself as well as any territory france controls so long as u have claims.

Its been dumb like this for a while. The best way is to hold territory you want to keep.

What would you reccomend as a starting nation?

Dukes to large nations, Russian minors particularly Novgorod. Bohemia is fun. Any Hre duke.

Odd never see that cannot call family to war. Usually so long as they are not involved in a war they will join.

Mistly happens if Norway or Normandy wins the crown. I've seen it where Norway won and had 5 kings before collapse. It happens too easily in this version.

The best factor is having a long tine ruler. That bonus u get is amazing.

debatable, if u have low relations it can cause more problems. If u have the proper relations tech its worth it tho.

Max levels is always worth it, it just gives -5 to the relationship with your vassals which is practically nothing. I'm playing a game as Bohemia and the succesion by seniority is all screwed up and my grandson who is sixteen will inherit all of Bohemia instead of my brother who should inherit it.
