    Question:

Will you fill all the available faction slots?

By this "question" I would like to know that will there be strat map custom settlement models (as in vanilla TATW)?
(Minas Tirith, Helm's Deep etc....) Or will they be "normal cities" as the slot used by custom models is used by a faction?

I hope you understand what I'm asking here...

oh and I'm waiting for the new version of course!

Maybe there's a way of cicrumventing the fact that the custom settlements need extra faction slots, but it needs testing

yeah in 3.9 it bugged me a lot that every city was similar. i would be more than willing to sacrifice a faction like e.g. shadow of angmar in order for custom strat map cities to exist

My first try for a unit description:

    Cair Andros guardsmen
Cair Andros, the island stronghold in the Anduin, just north of Osgiliath, has a turbulent history. Many times this island has switched owner during the wars between Gondor and Mordor. Their have been so many battles focussed on the island, the Stewards created a unit dedicated to protecting it. These men, often called guardsmen, are drawn from the ranks of the infantry, mostly from the experienced men, who are not afraid of orc-blood nor combat. Although higher in rank than the infantry, they wear less armour - mail at best - and no shield. This is necessary, because it gives them the ability to wield their two-handed swords, that can cut a man through half. Their light armour also allows them to move swiftly across the castle walls, to repel any attacker - orc, man or troll - and either kill them, or throw them back, into the quickly flowing water of the Anduin.

    Feedback is welcome.

All questions about the custom settlements on the strat map will be answered as soon as we see all the changes of the original Third Age 4.0. We will see how many slots remained and then the sub-mod leaders have to decide which factions should be out (if any).
But never forget guys that present DaC 3.999 is based on Third Age 1.2, so there are many features which (logically) are missing from the sub-mod as many improvements were done in the original version since 1.2 was released.

    Another description:
    Fisherfolk militia
Being a fisher on the coast of Gondor is not easy, nowadays. There are more dangers around than the sea and it's inhabitants. The threat of a corsair invasion is very real, and the fishers have to be on their guard all the time: they cannot hope to outsail a corsair ship. This creates strong, vigilant men. They are excellent pilots for larger ships - none know the coast better than they - but lack the training and morale for combat. Yet there are ocassions when neither Gondor's army nor it's navy are around to deal with a raiding party. In this case, the fishermen take up the arms to defend their homes and family. They wield spears and wooden shields. Some of them have acces to leather armour, but most don't and fight without. Unsurprisingly, they make poor warriors.

Question, what are your plans for the faction, "Enedwaith and Minhirith"? If I'm not mistaken, that area in the books had a very limited "Known" population. Who's side will they be on? What will there units be like?

What if you were to replace it with .......

Well, we have gathered what we can, read other pieces of information to gather a more logical yes/no approach and come up with a faction that is a memory of former things, former memories of grandeur, where the people live in the shadows, in woods and villages, along the coastlines and more organised elements in the more well-known areas. They're not a boring faction, but are not legions of chain-clad super-dudes. You'll see them come out to play at some point!

    Uhmmmmm...had to look this up....

Well, it's an idea, but perhaps suited better to a different mod....maybe the chap who's doing the snoopys would help out? Can see some of the foresty-types in zelda's cloak, but that's about it....

Ok, so are they going to be good, evil, or ugly ? I get the concept of the faction, it's more of a "Land of Mystery". Maybe you should add an event, to when they build enough infastructure, they can recruit a "Real" army. Like what the plan for a remergant Arnor is...

Also, maybe a better name would be be more suited.... "Enedwaith and Minhirith" sound more regional and less regal... I can't think of anything at the moment, lol!

I was kidding about the Hyrule ! But come to think of it, it would make for some great fan fiction, lol! Have Link with his Master Sword, leading Hylian Knights, accompanied by a force of fierce Gorans .

Well, the original idea was to have a campaign with major event-driving play that led to the uniting of the faction, then an insight to the days of Cardolan and the memory which clings to this, but nothing so grand as an emergant Arnor, just a fun and quite deep story to make a different variation on normal gamelplay. They're good, bad and ugly....kind of your choice to a degree.

Well, they're not exactly regal, just clinging to ea memory of something greater than now. There are more Druedainic influences there Dunedaic, but we'll make it into something good, don't worry. Probably one of the last factions to be made in reality, but there are great ideas there.

I was kidding about the Hyrule !
I guessed....you COULDN'T have been serious...if you were I would have lost my faith in humanity and shot myself.

Good enough explenation for me. If it's anything like Dorwinion is turning out, then it should be pretty impressive

Another Faction question.... What do you plan on doing for the units of "Khazad Dum"? Do you plan on reskinning those?

Thanks. Hopefully it will be good!

There will be changes to some of the units we're using for Khazad-Dum, but they are relatively minor, not total reskins, nope. We'll see what eventually happens with them...things are afoot in the house of DaC....
