BTW, are the buildings in the battle map going to have custom models? I'm pretty sure a breakthrough was made that allows that few months ago.

I believe it's not a priority for the team yet (for the first release).

    Twitterific!

Seriously, I am impressed. It reads like a true university work and It was quite exciting to learn about roman military apart from all those useless hollywood and CA's interpretations.

Will the Skirmishers, the leves, use a secondary weapon after they thrown all their javelin or do they have to retreat and remain useless during the whole battle?

And will the Romani have some sort of archer unit? I know, I shouldn't compare with Rome Vanilla, but as it stands, the Romani have a very slim unit roster (foreign units excluded) and a very stationary battle procedure (first leves, then hastati etc.).

Their secondary weapon is a spear.

As it happened in RL, romans had to rely on mercenaries to provide some specialized battlefield roles, like the long-range missile fire.

I will refuse to play this mod if the Equites aren't useless pieces of trash who would be much better replaced with Illirian or "Barbarian" cavalry like in EB.

Oh? Perhaps you could elaborate on your concern?

Yeah, had they been in a lower price class, they would have been great cavalry. It's just that the Roman equites class weren't exactly cheap guys, and the Romans didn't field that many of them - being infantry orientated and all. So they are a bit overprized for their potential (and should stay that way in EB II, I guess).

Well done ! This mod still growing...
I notice that you decided not to include accensii and rorarii, contrary to the first opus of EB.
However, this is easy to understand as there were some reforms after the third samnite wars, and in campaign, the accensii are useless, and the rorarii of little value on the battlefield...

We will not include the Accensi as a combat unit, but we will eventually include the Rorarii. The latter are simply not important enough to include in our first release.

They are way too costly to be an effective cavalry unit, specially when you consider the brilliant cavalry units that exist outside of the Italian Peninsula.

And it is exactly how it should be. Roman breed cavalry should be crappy compared to their neighbours, that's what made me conquer Illiryia

Why bring it up? You are asking that we keep things the same in EB. We made EBI, you should expect that we know what we are doing.
