2x pilas or 1x heavy pila + 1x light pila
1x Galea helmet (bronze or iron)

PLUS Cingulum (belt with dangly bit over the groin), Pugio (dagger in scabbard attached to the belt), and caligae (military sandals with hobnails in the soles for better grip).
And that's just when going into battle.

I heard Shaka Zula made his men run barefooted in thicket to toughen their feet...

I could get modern caligae at the shoe shop, but they made from real shiny leather, no studs and only come in female sizes xD

Oh well, I guess paying £70 for a proper pair aint so bad xD

I saw a female friend of mine wearing a pair of sandals that bore the most amazing resemblance to caligae a few weeks ago! I was impressed!

    Sort of.

The ones they sell in the shoe shop closest me have the leather sticking up too.

A bit like that one, a bit like this http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3099/...150c0b404d.jpg but with a distinctly modern ankle part and high heals.

I have a relativley low-quality replica gladius. I'm possibly getting a better one pretty soon. I'd like a helmet and/or armor as well but they're very expensive. Any swords are strictly for display and showoff purposes.

    Any pics of your sword?

    UPDATE:
I made a baldric for my Gladius. It's nothing fancy, just a braided string strap really. I used basically the same method I used to make slings in the past, but with a larger, wider plait.
Yet again the camera is missing so no pictures just yet, but will be as soon as.

Also I've got a thing set up and hope to be able to get a Lorica Segmentata by the end of next month :3

Also I need advice. The grease that was coating my sword obviously wore out and the blade started to stain. I had a look through a few books and one said that Romans used to polish their swords with cheap olive oil to keep them fresh. So I did the same, but I can't find anything on the internet, wondering if I'm not damaging the sword some how.
